Pros clean crisp sound, inexpensive, good looking
Cons My first set was delivered defective; replacement pair has been flawless
Recommended it? Yes

After having a custom entertainment center built, I began to research bookshelf size speakers to use in the unit. I needed something that had excellent sound that would serve well in a room about 300 square feet. After reading reviews, I decided on the JBL N26II (2002 model) and have never looked... N26 is #1 for the bang and the buck...

Pros Low price, superb sound to speakers two to three times their cost, not bulky
Cons Mounting brackets nearly impossible to find and are expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

After serious comparison with Yamaha's units, Bose's 201's and 301's and, Polk's, KLH's, Sony's and even JBL's other speakers in the series including their S series I bought the N-26's. Using side by side comparison testing when possible and some driving back and forth to different stores for... Read full review »

Pros Very Good Quality for a bookshelf speaker
Cons Bass could be tighter, case could use improvement
Recommended it? Yes

I wasn't very pleased with the black plastic housing, as I'm used to a pair of Infinity 6" bookshelves with a... Read full review »

bymarklarson May 17, 2001

Pros Review of the N24AW speaker: good sound, easily mounted
Cons None so far
Recommended it? Yes

This review is of the model below the N26AW, the N24AW, which has a smaller woofer but it includes mounting brackets, which the N26AW do not.

These outdoor speakers replaced a lame pair of RCA/RadioShack units. So, by comparison, they sound great. But, they DO sound good. I have them... Read full review »

Outdoor use only

bychimmy Oct 4, 2000

Pros Adequate sound
Cons Just adequate sound, difficult to mount
Recommended it? No

When I first tried these speakers out, I was discouraged. When I compared them side-by-side to my indoor speakers, I could easily hear a very noticeable overemphasis in the 1KHz to 4KHz range. To hear this, imagine you're listening to a full orchestra, but hearing the sound of a sharp trumpet... Read full review »
