Pros Easy to set up and use
Cons Noisy, ejects disks almost too fast
Recommended it? Yes

Bought this external Zip Drive to transfer info between computers. It was quite easy to set up, and is very easy to use. However, it's noisy. It makes sort of an "ewwh" noise when the computer starts up and when you use it.
Also, while it doesn't take much space, it can be awkward. It won't... Read full review »

Iomega Zip 100 USB slows boot-up for MAC G4

bydocwatson_2 May 9, 2003
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros compact, easy to install and use, quick loading and downloading
Cons markedly slows boot-up time for a Power MAC G4/OSX
Recommended it? No

This is a flexible, useful storage device, but if it's plugged into a Power MAC G4 running OSX, it adds over one minute to the boot-up/restart time of the MAC. Iomega's solution is to (duhhh) not plug it in when booting-up or restarting. I think they're sidestepping a known issue and that bothers... Read full review »

Pros Fast USB data transfer Portable
Cons Fairly loud operation during insertion/ejection

As a previous review stated, you should verify in your particular situation that this Zip drive is what you're looking for. In my case, I just bought a laptop without an included floppy drive and moved my existing desktop computer to the basement. Not wanting to mess with wired/wireless networking,... Read full review »

Pros If you need 100 zip, then this is a good bet.
Cons Go CD if you have a choice. Go 250 if that is what you need.
Recommended it? Yes

Do you want to zip your files? Well, it really depends on a lot of things. For what I needed and wanted to do, the Iomega Zip 100 was just what I needed, but it's a good idea to look around and read around and make sure that you are getting the kind of storage that will work for you. Basically, you... Read full review »

Cons Disks are expensive, information transfer is slow

About a year ago people were telling me how awesome their ZIP drives were. I thought I'd give it a shot. Luckily I only borrowed the one I used instead of buying it. The drive itself is small and could fit pretty much anywhere on your desktop. Installation and setting up is easy. If your ever... Read full review »
