Speed Not Everything

bywillman33 Dec 14, 1999

Pros Fast speeds
Cons can ruin your computer if no cooling fan
Recommended it? No

Why is everyone obsessing about speed? True the Pentium III goes up to 500 MHZ but why? The AMD K7 processor can go up to 600 MHZ and is much cheaper then the Pentium III. There have also been many complaints that the Pentium III processor over heated and blew their system. That happened because... Read full review »

Pros Coppermine chip, 550E is overclockable, $188!
Cons Only overclocks to 800mhz... :-(
Recommended it? Yes

Well, I know there's probably 100's of reviews of the beautiful Pentium III 550E Coppermine chip, but I just wanted to say that this is the best chip I have ever had the pleasure of testing, in fact, it's what I use to run my own personal computer. What I like most about it is the ability to... Read full review »

Pros High performance
Cons Negligible Privacy

Before i begin my anti-Intel rant, let me say some good things about the Intel Pentium III processor. First off, it's INCREDIBLY powerful. Intel's made some remarkable leaps in processor technology, and for that i give them credit. They've retaken the field with their gigaflop processors, which... Read full review »

A good chip, for a now good price

Pros High Speed, Good Price
Cons Heats up too quick
Recommended it? Yes

I planned on buying a Pentium III chip to replace my Pentium 133 MHz for a while now. The only thing that was really stopping me was the price of the chip, the cost of the new mother board and memory chips didn't bother me. Thankfully, now that people aren't as sceptical about them, the price has... Read full review »

Pros Fast as Hell
Cons Overall slower than Athlon 600
Recommended it? Yes

I have to say I love my Pent3 600. The processing power is amazing. It's a good feeling to be able to pick up any game and not have to look at the system requirements because you know your computer can handle it. The Pentium 3 is a solid processor, with a nice set of specialized instructions that... Read full review »

Pros Interesting
Cons acurate?

I did not go into the store and ask the guy to sell me a p3 450 so I could tell everybody I have a p3. I went into a store and asked for some relief from a lag problem that I have playing strategy games. This is what the store owner recommended. I did get that feeling that this clown thought I was... Pros Made by intel. Better than celeron or duron
Cons outperformed by the thunderbird and more expensive
Recommended it? No

The PIII, backed by such OEM manufacturers such as dell and gateway. But the pentium III is simply not up to par with the AMD proccessors. The PIII is simply out performed by the newer athlons such as the Athlon-6 with 266mhz bus compared to the pentium's 133mhz bus. And for all you people who only... Read full review »

Pros It is fast.
Cons Not as fast as an AMD chip. More expencive than an AMD chip.
Recommended it? No

Well the new P3 has arrived. Boy, what a flop. This chip is by no means bad, it is just more expensive and slower than an athalon. In addition I am a loyal AMD consumer, I have never had a problem with compatibility. This is a lie that Intel started. The purpose was to discredit AMD. This has... Read full review »

So you're still sitting at home waiting for that program to load? Well the Pentium III is your answer. Blazingly fast, the Pentium III will accelerate any program you throw at it. This chip is the latest in the long line of Intel's great chips. Fast, reliable, and great overall quality, you can't... Read full review »
