1.13 GHz: Superfast but unstable

bypopy Sep 13, 2000
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 3 Comments
Pros superfast
Cons unstable
Recommended it? No

Intel recently released its new Pentium III at 1.13 Gigahertz. Not a very wise decision I guess considering the processor is highly unstable and consequently unusable.
Looks like that Intel decision to drop the processor last July 31 has been made in order to prevent the release of the Athlon... Read full review »

Not Neccessarily More Bang For The Buck

Pros Faster Floating Point On Games, Little Performance Gain
Cons Compared to Celeron or AMD the PIII price is alot more.
Recommended it? Yes

Well no one ever believes it, I feel Intel has the market fooled with thier processors. The difference between Intels Celeron and the PIII is only a small bit of cache or memory on the processor. I feel the price they charge for this is outrageous.

The performanced gained from buying the... Read full review »

Pros Cheap, doesn't need expensive motherboards or memory.
Cons Slow
Recommended it? Yes

The Pentium III 450 was Intel?s shortest lived processor. When it was released about a year ago it wasn?t the second fastest cpu behind Intel?s Pentium III 500. However, there were lots of privacy concerns over Intel giving each processor it?s own unique serial number, allowing you to be identified... Read full review »

Pros Compatibility, easy overclocking
Cons Not the fastest on the market.
Recommended it? Yes

I use to run a Celeron 300A overclocked to 450Mhz. I decided the time was right to upgrade. I went out and bought a new Motherboard and decided to buy a Pentium 3 650E (e means 100Mhz bus speed). I dropped it in the new board along with 128Megs of PC100 RAM. I was instantly gratified by my new... Read full review »

Pros 733 MHz has very good speed at a reasonable price
Cons Make sure you're knowledgeable before attempting to upgrade yourself
Recommended it? Yes

This is the first in a series of reviews of the various components in the new computer that I just built.

When I got my HP Pavilion 7360 back in 1997, it was the fastest darn computer around...200 MHz Pentium w/MMX. Since then, I've added all manner of programs and other components to it... Read full review »

Pros Great features, Top notch performance, Good design
Cons A bit more expensive than AMD
Recommended it? Yes

Just until recently Intel was the processor of choice for anyone who wanted the best that was on the market. Not that AMD has stepped up to the plate with it's Athlon line of processors, Intel is no longer the only fish in the sea.

The newest intel processors are the Pentium 3 Coppermines... Read full review »

Pros Unbeliveable Flexibality
Cons Jumpers(for those who don't like them)
Recommended it? Yes

This is the best board for P3 CPU's. The board runs on the new VIA Chipset. Unlike the Intel 820 chipset the VIA FULLY supports 133mhz FSB.
This Board Works With both copper and cat. chips. It supports PC-133 RAM, has built in UDMA/66 and supports AGP4x. The board has a very easy to configure... Read full review »

Pros Industry standard, overclockable
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes

I have been using Intel processors about 12 years now. They have always been the top contender when it comes to processors. I never have had problems with them and they are always very dependable. I currently have a dual Pentium III 450 system and I couldn't be happier. The Pentium III 450 can also... Read full review »

Fastest things on earth? i think not! Try the K-7

byBigfrado Jan 22, 2000

Pros There the newest from Intel
Cons There are faster and cheaper processors out
Recommended it? No

I was considering buying a Pentium III until I saw the price and the performance benchmarks. A K-7 has the Pentium processor beat in almost every test ran. The K-7 is a lot less cheaper and does a better job at it. The major reason why a Pentium III is slower than the faster K-7 chips is the... Read full review »

Chips and Salsa

Pros Fast, reliable
Cons A little over hyped
Recommended it? Yes

Although the hype on the Pentium III is a little more than needed, I have found that it does the job the right way. It's fast, dependable and works well with most of my other tools. I can personally vouch for its compatability due to the fact that my motherboard is completly CrAcK rigged. There are... Read full review »
