Good processor but there are better options
I purchased my Celeron 600 to replace a Pentium II in my Dell system. The Celeron while not as fast as a Pentium III or the same speed is pretty close in terms of performance (the Celeron only has half the on-die cache of the Pentium III). The difference in cost is usually significant.

Overclocking the Celeron, Not an Urban Legend
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Celeron 300a. When these started to get hot and unavailable, I found a source that was selling them cheap. It was cheap enough for me to take a chance on. Well, after getting the CPU and slapping some thermal grease and a decent heatsink/fan combination, I... Read full review »
Not my first choice, but not horrid for low end.
Celeron processors are Intel's cheapest processors on the market now. I'm sure you can go out and buy yourself a computer for a few hundred dollars if it is using a Celeron processor. Here's the catch though: It's SLOW. What's scary about the Celeron is that its performances get drastically worse... Read full review »
Great For Normal Home Users! For Games, Get an Athlon!
If you are looking for a low-cost system that will offer you enough performance to comfortable use productivity applications, than you probably want a system built with the Celeron processor. The Celeron is at the low-end of the Intel product line and is designed to compete with the K6-X. Since... Read full review »
Best Value Chip with Over-clocking
Working in the computer industries for many years now, I recommend the Celeron as a robust CPU that has out-performed my expectations for the average user. From the results I have collected from my friends and family, the Celeron has earned its reputation as the best value chip on the market.

There was a place for it once upon a time
There was once a time when the Celeron served a very good purpose. This is because it was the only chip which served the purpose of bridging the gap between the Cyrix MII/AMD K6-2 at the low end and the Athlon/PIII at the highend. However this is no longer the case as AMD have released the Duron to... Read full review »
Intel's low end, is pretty good
The Intel Celeron is the low end of Intel's processor line, but is still a good investment. A computer based on the Intel Celeron is cheap, and efficient. It can perform equally with it's Pentium II counterpart in Wordprocessing and Web surfing. Although due to a lack of a good FPU (Floating Point... Read full review »
My favorite processor, by far
I bought my Intel Celeron 300A in December of 1998, and now, in January of 2000, I still use it. I am quite happy with the results of my purchase for several reasons.
The Celeron 300A is one of the most overclockable processors I have found so far. Under normal room temperatures, I can...

Why I chose the Celeron
When it was time for me to replace my 1995 computer I had some serious shopping to do. After reviewing all the many different options I selected the Intel Celeron Processor over the other competing technologies. The following are some of the reasons why.
First, although the Celeron only...

The Legacy of Pentium 2 and Pentium 3?
The Intel Celeron processor, basically a stripped Pentium 3 is a value processor designed for those who bear value in mind for their computers. Although it's a reliable processor, but I really can't recommend it if people are looking for even a greater value out of their computing experience.
