Pros Self-propel system works great.
Cons Suction when full; Weight; Cleanup
Recommended it? No

After almost three years of owning this vacuum, I just took it to the garage so I can drop it off at Goodwill next chance I get. My wife and I are completely dissatisfied with this unit. It is extremely heavy (we have three floors), unimpressive suction (read that almost non-existent when the... Read full review »

Pros None
Cons Noise, loses suction quick, does not clean well.
Recommended it? No

I purchased the Hoover Bagless Windtunnel a week ago and have been going nuts since. The noise level is so bad that you actually get aggravated from using it. Even my wife gets in a nasty mood after using it for 5 min. I tell you its unbearable. I do not understand how a company like Hoover with... Read full review »

I love bagless, but Hoover is impossible to empty!

byemmons1 Apr 4, 2005
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros Picks up better than any vacuum I have ever seen.
Cons Impossible to empty. Poorly designed for a bagless.
Recommended it? No

I have used bagless vacuums for years and love them. But NOT this one. It is designed with a two chamber dirt catcher that is IMPOSSIBLE to empty. With most bagless vacuums you just open the lid and dump out the dirt. With the Hoover, you open the lid and have to reach inside to get the dirt to... Read full review »

Hoover U6660-900 Self-Propelled Windtunnel Bagless Vacuum

byjjnmrmom Oct 13, 2003

Pros Good suction and easy movement when it works! Looks nice.
Cons Self-propelled feature faulty. Emptying canister messy. Very heavy.
Recommended it? No

I've only owned this vacuum for two years and had to take it apart several times. The warrantee is only one year. The belts keep slipping off and it effects the self propelled feature as well as the brush rotation. It is a very heavy vacuum and can NOT be used if the self-propelled feature doesn't... Hoover self-propelled upright

Pros self-propelled feature works well. Others do not over time.
Cons Difficult to change bags, lots of repairs so far.
Recommended it? No

The vacuum works well at first. Don't let the bag get nearly full as then it doesn't pick up anything at all. Bags are difficult to change; putting a new one on requires holding the vacuum between the knees and hoping you get it on right the first or second try. Self propelled part is the main... Do Not Buy this vacuum

byarbini Apr 17, 2007

Pros when I plug it in, the electricity flows to the switch
Cons it is not reliable, falls apart and suction through hose is non existent
Recommended it? No

This vacuum cleaner is the worst I have ever used. I am continually surprised at how shoddy the workmanship. It falls apart every time I use it. DO NOT BUY IT. If someone offers it to you for free RUN. We had purchased our new home and after months of reconstruction were finally moving in. I wanted... Read full review »

Excellent vacuum...for a few months

byjeffersonian Jul 10, 2005

Pros Impressive dirt pickup, good attachments, easy to operate, bagless design
Cons Shoddy build quality, short life span
Recommended it? No

I won't rehash much of the good and bad about this unit...read the other reviews. When the unit works, it's a very fine vacuum cleaner, one well worth recommending to anyone.

But we're on our second one (the first was returned to the store we bought it when the motor kept kicking out on... Read full review »

The Garbage Pail is TOO Good for IT

bybigred75 Feb 3, 2008

Pros Probably good for bare floors
Cons Needs constant belt replacements
Recommended it? No

This is the worst vacuum I have ever had the misfortune to use. It is a marvel of American Engineering STUPIDITY at its best. I bought this for my mother thinking a self-propelled upright would be a welcome change from a canister--WRONG! You cannot vacuum anywhere near scatter rugs because it sucks... Read full review »

Cons Lots! - see below

My Mom bought a new vacuum cleaner and I inherited this hoover piece of junk. She bought it brand new and said it was pretty pricey. She only had it for a few months before giving it to me. Now she has one of those fancy Dyson vacuums you see on TV (the kind with the nerdy guy that says,"my vacuum... Read full review »

Hoover Windtunnel A Poor Choice

byoneofeight2003 Jan 13, 2006
1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros It does have a strong draw.
Cons Heavy, noisy, unreliable, bagless feature is yuck.
Recommended it? No

I just today went out and replaced by Hoover Windtunnel Bagless. I have had it for 18 teeth-grinding months. It was a very big disappointment. The vacuum is very heavy and difficult to carry up and down stairs, never mind vacuuming the stair. It is big and difficult to store. It has broken more... Read full review »
