ELEMENT -ary, My Dear Honda!

Pros fun new design, versatile, fun to drive, roomy
Cons limited standard equipment, only seats four
Recommended it? Yes

Lots of people claim to "live in their cars"; do you? If so, what kind of room is your vehicle? Some are outfitted as media rooms, with high-end audio (and in some cases, video). Some are rolling offices, with clipboards and telephones and plug-in fax machines. Some might as well be school buses,... Read full review »

Dateline 12/15/2002:

The Honda Element will be released in about four days. I keep trying to put it out of my mind, but no, the damn thing keeps getting in the way of me thinking about important things like work, Christmas, New Years, etcetera. I like the Honda Civic Si. They don't sell... Read full review »

Complete list of pro's & con's for this fantastic SUV

bylawrance Jan 9, 2005

Pros Usable Space, easy cleaning, fun design, decent mpg, sporty handling.
Cons Blind spots, headlights blink, seats move, cheap-feeling interior.
Recommended it? Yes

I like my Element. In fact, I might even love it. I bought my E with very specific needs. I needed enough space to load an assembled real estate yard sign in, and I wanted a vehicle with good mileage, as gas was $2.00/gallon when I entered the car market. The other vehicles on my short list were... Read full review »

An Elementary SUV

byerazo Feb 17, 2003

Pros It's a Honda. High in sport, higher in utility.
Cons It's a Honda. Few options and color choices. Options overpriced.
Recommended it? Yes

Our reasons for buying the Element were four: two dogs and two bikes.

We just sold our Ford Ranger pickup, and our Jeep Grand Cherokee is on the block, as our new Element replaces both of these cars, while serving also as an economical in-town runabout.

The Ranger was a great... Read full review »

Pros Fun! Tight turning radius. Highly practical. Turns heads. Very roomy.
Cons Um, er, well ... it wasn't free.
Recommended it? Yes

Let's get one thing on the table at the start: my wife and I *LOVE* this vehicle.

I could write a multi-volume novel about the vehicle's neat features, but I'll try to summarize to the greatest extent possible.

TIGHT TURNING RADIUS, EASY TO PARK
Few would know this by... Read full review »

I have owned my Element since new, so it's going on 4 years now. I feel I have enough experience with this vehicle to post a comprehensive opinion about it.

My Element is FWD, 5-speed manual, no sunroof. Bought new, used 90% for city driving. I haul crates of heavy music equipment in the... Read full review »

Shake, Rattle and Roll....?

Pros Great fun to drive. Unique styling, versatile utility. Made by Honda
Cons Expensive accessories, a little spartan
Recommended it? Yes

Not wanting to be un-cool, I tried to suppress the laughter. I'd gone to my Honda dealer to look at an Odyssey, which was of course calm, refined and almost luxurious in exactly the way you'd expect. Then I saw an Element, standing tall and in stark contrast to the sweeping lines of every other... Read full review »

Not Quite Sure If You're Out of Your Element?

Pros Functionality, versatility, price
Cons Blindspots, sluggish engine, Honda doesn't offer deals, 30K warranty
Recommended it? Yes

2003 is the first year that Honda offered one of the most daring automotive designs to hit the market. Like any first year offering, it has it's share of bumps and warts.

I bought the Element as a grad student at Penn State. I had two medium sized dogs, lived in the mountains, and moved... Read full review »

Not a Fun Vehicle

byatomic201 Apr 13, 2004

Pros Quirky styling, reliability, TARDIS-like interior space.
Cons Poor interior finish, poor 4WD system, slow, poor mileage, bad handling
Recommended it? No

My wife and I were enticed by the Element's quirky looks and Honda's reputation for reliability, but we soon after began to regret our decision. The Element is, in and of itself, a fine vehicle but it leaves you wanting so much more from it if you are a "driver" (and you know who you are). We do... Read full review »

This vehicle was purchased to replace my wife's Audi A4 Quattro. We were actually looking at 1999 and up Jettas, but they just didn't feel like the best solution. We spotted an Element at a dealership and my wife fell in love instantly. As soon as I mentioned that I'd consider buying one she nearly... Read full review »
