Pros Lots of uses, bright screen
Cons Do you really need a PDA?
Recommended it? Yes

Imagine my delight when we were doing some office cleaning at work and found a box full of iPaq Pocket PC's. A few years ago, my employer had purchased several of these models and some people had used them for a time, but eventually quit messing with them. I was lucky enough to find one still brand... Love/Hate relationship, but love won out.....

Pros powerful, big memory, card capable, wifi, BIOMETRIC security, geek factor
Cons took a couple tries to get one that worked right. Pricey.
Recommended it? Yes

Maybe it's just me and HP not getting along, but I've had bad luck with HP PDAs. I must be crazy, because it took two replacements before I got a 5555/5550 that worked reliably, but even with all the hassle, I purely loved this PDA. Every one I've owned since has been compared to this model.

HUGE memory, reliable PIM storage w/ MANY S/W glitches

bytmfarid Jun 16, 2005

Pros Huge memory, big screen, slim design, automatic PIM backup and restore.
Cons No CF, freezes frequently, SLOWWW, weak WiFi signal
Recommended it? No

In my opinion, 128MB in PPC world means 512MB in PC world. 64 MB memory is barely enough these days for actual pocket PC functions. Remember that you will NOT pay the high price tage to a list of your friends' contact info (which can be done equally effective by many organizers), but you pay for a... Read full review »

Pros Good battery life, bright display, super expandable, lots of storage
Cons A wee bit bigger than some pda's, but that's minor.
Recommended it? Yes

I've had this for about 14 months now. It was ahead of it's time back then, and I have to say It's still working exceptionally. Powerful CPU, expandable storage in popular secure digital format, ability for expansion sleaves to allow everything from a hard drive to more battery power, to a cell... Read full review »

Pros Strong, Professional and intuitive
Cons No CF Integrated, Unit Heats up

I have been told the only difference between the iPaq h5550 and h5555 is: one is for Europe and one for North America, and no physical difference otherwise, so you will find this review in both products.

I compared this unit with a Toshiba e750 and a Sony Clie PEG-UX50 and the iPaq won... Read full review »

Pros THIS IS GREAT, WORKS GREAT, AND I LOVE IT!
Cons I bought the large capacity battery to get longer battery use.
Recommended it? Yes

I really love my HP5550. I have had mine since it came out and it really does everything the manufacturer says it does. I even downloaded some games and the graphics are great. I did buy the large capacity battery and that really helps in not having to recharge too often. My calendar, contacts,... Read full review »

HP 5500 Pocket PC good but a bit pricey

byblcroft May 18, 2005

Pros A good work horse will nice features for a Pocket PC. A good buy.
Cons When left alone the battery will die and you may loose in memory items.
Recommended it? Yes

I use the HP 5500 for work purposes which part of it fall out the normal use of such a PDA. The PDA gets taxed quite a bit and has been able to handle the load. It has all the standard PDA features and more such a finger print login/sign in capability. That is nice, you just swipe one of your index... Read full review »
