after 4 years it's still "mostly" reliable but time for an upgrade
I've owned this printer going on 4 years now and use it for general purpose office work. My biggest complaint are two: First, the controls are positioned on top of the unit. This means that when I need to fax something, I have get out of my chair and stand over the machine to enter the phone number... Read full review »
HP 5510 and Vista
I have had a 5510 for several years. It's a good machine, but don't use it with Vista. The driver CD that ships with the 5510 won't load in Vista, because Vista has a basic 5510 driver included.
The trouble comes when you want to use any feature other than printing. None of the scan or...

Save Your Money!
This is the second HP I have owned. The first one purchased about 12 years ago was terrific. Well-made and high quality. So needless to say I was shocked that I have had so much trouble with the 5510. I was in the market for an all-in-one and the reviews of this product were quite favorable. It was... Appx 3 years with No Problems with this device
December 2006 : While I have not had to use it every day, I have used every feature: print, scan, fax, copy. I find the flatbed so helpful that I do not know why there is not more demand for flatbeds. Also, on the top, the feeder has hardly ever, or perhaps even never jammed. Occassionally a sheet... overall good machine with a few minor quirks
I've had this all-in-one for about 20 months now. Overall I am pretty happy with its performance as printer and scanner. I have not set it up to use for faxes. The print cartridge has lasted me for a year, pretty good even though I do not make too many prints. Quality of regular prints is good so... Read full review »
Don't Buy This!
I purchased this machine 2 months ago. The second day I had it, the display wouldn't stop flashing and the machine wouldn't start printing! Tech support had me unplug, plug back in, push buttons in sequence, unplug again, etc. At times I felt like I was playing Twister the combinations they came up... Read full review »
I Owned it for 18 Months - It's Dead
1st- No support for Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger. 2nd- Printer mechanism broke down faster than any other inkjet I've owned. OK for price, but own extended warranty-- mine fouled 13months into ownership! I struggled with issues regarding global reset more than once - I will say HP support was helpful even... Read full review »
Forget it if you have a Mac
HP Scan software (HP scanning software for Mac), is very frustrating.
Here's a simple scenario that I assume occurs in many office settings:
I have a bunch of 8.5 x 11-inch papers that I need to scan to make them into PDFs. However, each time I scan a page on this printer with...

Wretched Experience
Three major issues with this machine. First, it didn't work. Kept getting an error message asking me to insert the ink cartridge, even though it was already inserted correctly -- several times. HP customer service gave me a long directive on how to correct the problem, but that didn't work, either... Read full review »
It's good. Buy it.
Print quality is very good - better than the color lasers at work. It doesn't have the wicking problem that plagued early ink jets where the ink spread into the paper slightly. Once you print something, the paper is dry as soon as it's done. It's done quickly too, only a few seconds for a black and... Read full review »
Hewlett Packard 5510 all-in-one
I bought one of these a couple of months ago and can honestly say the quality and speed are striking along with the ease of use. The paper feed could be a bit more positive as , when you insert a wad of paper its hard to know when to stop pushing ! The scanner is top-knotch and can scan and print... Read full review »
Well, I'm tossing it in the alley AGAIN...
I've never really loved this machine -- it replaced an HP G85 multifunction machine (which, in typical HP form, died when a 20 cent part broke and sent a $600 machine to printer heaven. NO ONE repairs HP multifunction machines, certainly not any of their authorized service agents. Call them,... Read full review »
Gets the job done, Good value for money
The HP OfficeJet 5510 is the smallest and least expensive real all-in-one (printer, flatbed scanner, stand-alone copier, and FAX) on the market. It is easy to set up and has full driver support for both Mac OS X and MS Windows. Once you've spent a few minutes telling it your preferences, it will... Read full review »
This machine does the job
The HP 5510 is not the best printer I have used nor is it the best scanner, FAX or copy machine. If I had bought a better Printer, which I could for around $200.00 Then A better FAX for another 150 bucks. My kids now have a HP scanner that works a little better and it was just $75 so far that... Delighted!
I'm getting the best results and most reliable performance I have ever had in any office product. I bought this to replace a lower end but nearly new brand B, which had given me nothing but inconsistent results, and cost a small fortune in ink replacement. I also decided to junk all the individual... Read full review »
Excellent Value, Easy Setup - Works Fine
Purchased this model from OfficeMax a couple of weeks ago [note: I have added a 6-month update near the end of this review], and have been very pleased with its performance. I went shopping for a cheap fax machine, but decided that the convenience of a multifunction machine justified the additional... Read full review »
My first AIO
I've owned 4 printers over the last few years and have used many more at work. But this my first AIO (All in One). If you can get it for $175 or less then it is worth the money (Disclaimer: I haven't tried their tech support which is outsourced and pretty lousy from what I've read from other... Read full review »
Very good all-in-one machine
We've just recently bought the HP 5510 OfficeJet All-in-one system. It combines a Printer, Fax, Scanner, and copier all into one machine. It does all operations in either color or black-and-white. I'll try to cover all the areas to help you decide if this is the system for you. This review might be... Read full review »
