Pros Easy to use & feature filled, fast, compact, great price
Cons More manual settings makes slower picture, lithium-ion battery charges in camera
Recommended it? Yes

(This is a repost of my original review, which disappeared through some epinions crack)
Once again HP outdoes themselves with their value-market but powerful technology. I had previously owned (and reviewed) the HP Photosmart 935 camera and this new R707 ended up to be a lot more than expected... Read full review »

Great for point-and-shoot ; may experience LCD issues

byhotshot309 May 29, 2006

Pros Great overall features and flexibility, stylish, great size and feel
Cons Lack of included accessories; LCD is not always reliable; only one-year warranty
Recommended it? Yes

This is fine to buy refurb or cheap, but even if you can get it new, I personally would pass it up for something newer and hopefully more durable.

Don't get me wrong--I love this camera's functionality and the pictures it takes. I do not love the fact that I had LCD issues, sent it to HP... Read full review »

Takes great photos, built well, long battery life

Pros Snazzy facade, easy to use, 5 megapixels, lots of manual options, takes fantastic shots
Cons Not very compact, could be a little faster.

There's quite a few digital cameras to choose from in the $350 price point. For starters, you've got the Canon A80, the Canon S410, the Pentax Optio S4I, and the Casio QVR-51. So why did I choose this HP model? Well, honestly, because I got it cheap. But HP has been making digital cameras for a few... Read full review »

One of HPs Best for some months

Pros Ease of producing a super sharp print from field to frame.
Cons The camera so compact one with big fingers may experience difficulty with small buttons.
Recommended it? Yes

The HP 707 represents the best camera put out by the company for some time. It is solidly built with SS front and collapsible lens which withdraws into body after a shot. The initial cost is extremely competitive for a 5.0 megapixel digital.
I purchased the camera to complement my 2100 Olympus... Read full review »

Good camera - but several problems

bysmartmomsine Mar 16, 2007

Pros Good HP PC software, good battery life, easy use
Cons Many problems with LCD screen, and the camera kept freezing up.
Recommended it? No

I bought this HP camera about 4 years ago. The camera has very good picture quality, and it is relatively easy to use. The zoom is a basic 3 x optical zoom, which I have felt have been insufficient for my needs on many occasions.

I must admit that although I think this camera has done a... Read full review »

My Uncle wanted my buy a Digital Camera and asked me for a suggestion. I wasn't too sure about his budget but recommended a Nikon to him anyway. I now found out that he went for an HP R707 and got the chance to play with it.

Though not a leader in this category, surprisingly it a 4 ~ 5... Read full review »

Pros Great Pics for megapixels, compact, approx. 1hour for non-stop video.
Cons Small screen, cannot zoom while shooting video.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the HP707 in the earlier part of 05' after months of comparison. Once ready to purchase I researched the price and found that this particular model was going bye-bye to make way for new 6 pixel. After days of footwork I found it at Office Depot for a mear $142. I was elated. This was... Read full review »

Pros This camera is light, compact and fairly easy to use. Pictures turn out great.
Cons The camera recovers slowly from taking a picture and ready for another.
Recommended it? No

I purchased my camera after going on a cruise with friend who had one. At first it took great pictures and worked great. Was fairly easy to use but recovery time from each picture is too great. After owning the camera a year the telescopic lens started either not opening at all to opening half way... Read full review »

Boatloads of Features

Pros Great resolution, small size, MPEG mode, onboard battery (removable), durable.
Cons Slow shutter speed, plethora of features: Steep learning curve for some.

Price for me was $0 as I got it from a rep as a seed model. Sorry...

They say that the determining factor in a digital camera is the lens. All "lenses" being equal, the HP Photosmart R707 is a great camera on features alone.

The standard features include red-eye reduction,... Read full review »

Loads of out-of-focus pictures

bymikevaleriani Feb 9, 2005
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 2 Comments
Pros Good camera help, good zoom, easy to use
Cons Out of focus pics, poor battery life, unusable software.
Recommended it? No

This is a good camera in the overall, but since I have it I am getting loads of out of focus pictures. When you shoot the subject must not move for at least two seconds, otherwise it will come out unfocused.
The red-eye removal feature is totally useless; it takes way too long to remove red... Read full review »
