I love this camera. I have had it for a couple of years now. It is very easy to use. It takes great pictures. It has a lot of features that I don't even use. The pictures are clear. 10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good HP PC software, good battery life, easy use
Cons Many problems with LCD screen, and the camera kept freezing up.
Recommended it? No

I bought this HP camera about 4 years ago. The camera has very good picture quality, and it is relatively easy to use. The zoom is a basic 3 x optical zoom, which I have felt have been insufficient for my needs on many occasions.

I must admit that although I think this camera has done a... Read full review »

Pros Great Pics for megapixels, compact, approx. 1hour for non-stop video.
Cons Small screen, cannot zoom while shooting video.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the HP707 in the earlier part of 05' after months of comparison. Once ready to purchase I researched the price and found that this particular model was going bye-bye to make way for new 6 pixel. After days of footwork I found it at Office Depot for a mear $142. I was elated. This was... Read full review »

Pros This camera is light, compact and fairly easy to use. Pictures turn out great.
Cons The camera recovers slowly from taking a picture and ready for another.
Recommended it? No

I purchased my camera after going on a cruise with friend who had one. At first it took great pictures and worked great. Was fairly easy to use but recovery time from each picture is too great. After owning the camera a year the telescopic lens started either not opening at all to opening half way... Read full review »

Shattered LCD Screen A Fluke?

byteryssmith Sep 15, 2006
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Terrific Camera for the Price
Cons LCD Screen Cracks/Shatters
Recommended it? No

The LCD Screen on my HP R707 has shattered twice, both times without dropping or knocking the camera up against anything or exposure to any extreme temperatures. The first time, it was covered under warranty and HP sent me a new camera. The second time was 14 months after I received the new camera... Read full review »

Beware of cracked screen

Pros When it works, a good, all-round package.
Cons I had real problems with two cracked screens.
Recommended it? No

I write to warn people of my experience with this camera. I am only a unit of one - and it may not represent the wider R707 experiences, but beware:

In January 2005 I bought an HP R707 digital camera. It worked well, but the screen broke for no reason in September 2005, meaning you cannot... Read full review »

Great for point-and-shoot ; may experience LCD issues

byhotshot309 May 29, 2006

Pros Great overall features and flexibility, stylish, great size and feel
Cons Lack of included accessories; LCD is not always reliable; only one-year warranty
Recommended it? Yes

This is fine to buy refurb or cheap, but even if you can get it new, I personally would pass it up for something newer and hopefully more durable.

Don't get me wrong--I love this camera's functionality and the pictures it takes. I do not love the fact that I had LCD issues, sent it to HP... Read full review »

Pros Great resolution, small size, MPEG mode, onboard battery (removable), durable.
Cons Slow shutter speed, plethora of features: Steep learning curve for some.

Price for me was $0 as I got it from a rep as a seed model. Sorry...

They say that the determining factor in a digital camera is the lens. All "lenses" being equal, the HP Photosmart R707 is a great camera on features alone.

The standard features include red-eye reduction,... Read full review »

I bought the HP R707 in the summer of 2004. I haven't had a whole lot of problems with it since I bought it, but there are a few things that peeve me off about it. But we'll start with the good things:

It's a very sleek looking camera. Nice design. Not too bulky (they keep making cameras... Read full review »

I loved this camera to start with, in fact I had my brother get one also. But now, I am having problems with it. When I go to take pictures, they look great on the screen until I snap the shot, then they are darker than the picture should be even if there was not any flash. Also, the auto lens... Cons More manual settings makes slower picture, lithium-ion battery charges in camera

(This is a repost of my original review, which disappeared through some epinions crack)

Cons Hard to keep clean.

This camera is excellent i love it the only problem that it has it that if you touch the metal body it shows your finger prints, which is annoying. But everything about this camera is perfect. Overall good buy

2 Helpfuls 3 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros high quality pictures, small, holds charge
Cons delay time between depressing button and shutter movement

I researched MANY digital cameras before I bought the HP R707. I got it at Buy.com for $195 which includes the $60 rebate offer. I was surprised how small it was - I'm a big guy and it gets lost in my hands. The controls are fairly intuitive. There seems to be a large delay time between the time... Read full review »
