Pros Big screen, huge amount of memory, many built-in functions and features
Cons Price
Recommended it? Yes

Okay, so I tried to think up a title that would make this seem a little more interesting than the bland review of a calculator that it is. Having failed miserably in my attempt, I'll go straight to some information about the 49G in the hope that I'll have better success at that.

While it's... Read full review »

Pros Amazing power, RPN, step-by-step, 3D-graphing...the list goes on
Cons Takes a while to learn, cost
Recommended it? Yes

I'd like to give a short introduction before I really start my review here. I am a 17 year old high school student, and I just finished my junior year. I take the most advanced math that my school offers (Academic Trig, Advanced Algebra, Analytic Geometry, and Probability and Statistics this past... Read full review »

A great calculator if you take the time to learn it.

Pros Much more functionality than TIs, More Efficient (RPN), Large Memory, better keyboard...
Cons A little expensive, bad color (blue), Can be slow if you dont use built-in functions
Recommended it? Yes

I first started out using a TI-85 in early high school. Then I switched to the HP48GX. At first it was difficult to use because I was not use to the RPN. By the end of the day, I saw why RPN is so much more efficient.
It uses a stack so your entry has to be "First in Last out"
Lets say... Read full review »

Pros Does literally everything, great internet support
Cons time to learn, users manuals, cost, hard to find
Recommended it? Yes

I have been a loyal TI user since high school and the TI-80. I could never figure out the Reverse Polish Notation on the HP calcs. I used a TI-85 in college while majoring in engineering and without it, I would not have passed! If I would have had the HP 49G, I would have excelled!!!! This... Read full review »

Pros the color
Cons using the calculator
Recommended it? No

Ok, so I needed a catching title :) You're reading this aren't you?
The calculator itself is very aesthetically pleasing. With it's seafoam green metallic body and translucent matching cover, it looks likes a fabulous new toy! At least they're more eye-catching than previous calculators. But... Read full review »

The HP49G is Hewlett-Packard's latest graphic calculator. It has 512K of RAM It has the same 4 MHz Saturn CPU as the 48G series, but the software is rewritten to make the calculator operate better and more quick.

the screen is in black instead of blue(hp48) which is much much better.

Pros Does it all, or nearly so
Cons Steep learning curve, button layout.
Recommended it? Yes

Before I get to the meat of this review, I have to say that the 49G is really a marvel of technology. It has incredible symbolic math capabilities, and can perform nearly any calculation (including things like FFTs, all sorts of matrix operations, etc).

But really, you have to ask... Read full review »

Pros Powerful Calculators...Does about everything a Engineering Student would need...Cool...
Cons User guide packaged sucks...
Recommended it? Yes

I think I could express my opinion on this calculator pretty good now...I've owned it for a few months now. First thing first, the User Guide packaged with the calculator really sucks...and I recommend going to HP's website and viewing the Advanced User Guide. The basics of this calculator are...
