It All Began With 'The Boy Who Lived'...
The Harry Potter franchise is now world-famous, but the series all began with the very first story, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The book, written by J.K. Rowling in 1997, was quickly picked up to be made into a movie. My 14-year-old self, who was avid fan of the books,... Read full review »
Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone
I'll probably have trouble sitting through all of these, but I've decided to take a critical look at the Harry Potter films, though most likely I won't hold them under close scrutiny as A. They don't really deserve it and B. the kids that watch these movies probably don't look for the things that I... Read full review »
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - The Movie
It's a very rare person who hasn't watched a Harry Potter movie or read one of the books (admittedly I know a few of the poor souls who haven't). And for good reason, the books especially are excellent, and the movies not bad adaptations at all. Of course I always recommend reading... Read full review »
Harry Potter and the Philosopher?s Stone (2001) - a novice Lord Of The Rings?
I once said Harry Potter was like Lord Of The Rings, to my surprise I was on the receiving end from a roar of laughter; a gob full of teeth. Firstly she was laughing because she strongly felt that it had no similarities. Secondly her laughter seemed so forced I’m guessing it was an impressive... Read full review »
great movie that sticks to the book
We are big fans of the Harry Potter books, so naturally we wanted to see the movies as well. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone sticks to the book well and leaves little detail out. Our kids love this movie so much we've replaced it three different times because they've worn it out watching it... Read full review »
Harry is introduced to Hogwarts
Mistreated Harry is invited to Hogwarts repeatedly. Eventually he is allowed to go and the adventure begins. Creating the Harry Potter movies must be terribly difficult when it comes to deciding what to leave out. I would not want that job. Read full review »
Excellent movie!
We took our children to the movie theater to see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and it was fantastic! The special effects were absoluteluy amazing! They did an excellent job of keeping the movie very close to the book, which is awesome! The kids were entertained from beginning to end (which... Read full review »

Great Movie
Of all the movies, this one stays truest to the books.
It is a good movie on its own, but if you like it you'll love the book!

Harry Potter is still going strong.
I just recently brought the Ultimate Edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and thought that i might do a review of it for my first review. Harry Potter is a very popular franchise that is rapidly being overtaken by the Twilight series and with only two movies or as the die-hard... Read full review »
a good start to the movie adaptions, although it could use some work
I am an avid reader of the Harry Potter series, so I was very excited when the decided to make the books into movies. Mind you I was about 14 years old when the first movie came out, but I though it was very enjoyable. Looking back now I realize the acting was terrible, and they spent little to no... Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
I was late to the "Harry Potter party", having not read the books or seen any of the films under Order of the Phoenix (book) was released. Once I read the books, I started watching the films and was thrilled to find some of my favorite actors were in them. The first film I viewed was the first in... Read full review »
Good adaptation of a magical book
I came late and somewhat backwards to the world of Harry Potter. When the books came out, I dismissed them as “kid’s stuff.” When this movie hit the big screen, I was involved in a mentoring program, and my “little brother” wanted to see it. I went along with the idea, as it was his turn to choose... Read full review »

This is the best one so far
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the best movie of the series so far. I was late getting into the serie (just read the books last year) and had a lot of catching up to do!
It is the very first installment of the series, and does a very good job of explaining everything. It begins...

Sorcerer's Stone Review
This is probably the best Harry Potter movie, after the Order of the Phoenix. Everyone is cast perfectly as according to the books, and this is the only movie for which I could say that. For fans of the books, this movie sticks to JK Rowling's fictional story. The special effects are excellent and... Read full review »
This DVD Is Awesome!
I had been a big fan of the Harry Potter series way before the movie came out, and at first I was skeptical, thinking that all Hollywood would do is turn my favorite book series into a big commercialized movie. How wrong I was. I went to go see this in theaters when it first came out, and I was... Read full review »
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone DVD
Usually these types of movies are not my personal preference; however, my youngest brother introduced me to the series of books. He seems to enjoy movies, books etc. that are just to the left of my own personal interests. As his collection of the books became larger; I became curious and later found... Read full review »
A very good adaptation of the book
Several years ago I was fortunate enough to be able to start reading the Harry Potter series to my children. Part of the beauty of the series was the way in which it enabled us as a family to have a common interest. Many years have been spent in idle speculation, and arguments regarding what would...
