Why did I buy it?

I purchased the Treo 270 for my business partner for a few different reasons. She had been using a Palm PDA for a long time and was very resistant to change. I needed her to be available at all times for client conference calls, and lastly I needed her to be able to... Read full review »

Neat device, just wish it had better service

Pros Like Treo 180 plus color and backlit keyboard, now with GPRS always-on data.
Cons All the drawbacks of the Treo 180: unreliable GSM service. GPRS data service is pricey.
Recommended it? No

Update:
I recently upgraded the firmware to support the GPRS, always-on, higher speed, data networking. The upgrade is "unofficial", it has not been officially released by Handspring in the US, but is available on TreoCentral if you want to try it (www.treocentral.com).

Introduction

When the original Palm Pilot came out, I was among the first in line to get one. I used Palm Pilots up through the Palm Vx. Then I switched to a Compaq iPaq PocketPC. Having a PDA and a phone is a very powerful combination when you're traveling, but as I sought to lighten my... Read full review »

Pros Organizer, phone, and data all in one device
Cons Not Palm OS 5, slow web browser
Recommended it? Yes

Bought the Treo 270 to replace my old phone and Visor. The Treo does a great job of integrating a PDA with a mobile phone. As a phone, its clarity is as good as I've heard on a cell. The phone application is the absolute best, with an extremely easy to use interface for calling your contacts (just... Read full review »

Pros Replace your Palm and cell phone with one unit
Cons Not as user-friendly as a cell phone, bulky, not a great Palm
Recommended it? Yes

I was using a Sony Clie PEG-N760C and a Motorola Startac with Verizon service and thought I was really happy with these two. I started a new job and they insisted I use their Voicestream phone, which I hated so I sold the Clie, gave the Startac away and bought the Treo.

Almost, but not quite.

Pros Phone, PDA and web browser all in one.
Cons Poor speakerphone and earpiece volume. Web browser slow, basically is a WAP browser.
Recommended it? No

I purchased the Treo 270 with pretty high expectations, so perhaps my review is a bit biased. After receiving the 270 and getting it to work, I was disappointed with the poor sound quality from both the earpiece and speakerphone. When they say "personal speakerphone" they basically mean it; forget... Read full review »

Pros Great functionality! Keyboard works great, great name lookup feature.
Cons No voice dial, a little bulky, no Note Pad program built in.
Recommended it? Yes

First of all, let me tell you a little bit about the way I view technology. I am the type that's willing to spend a few $100 and a little time for something that's going to make my life even just a little bit more efficient. I have to say the Treo was well worth the money.

I recently... Read full review »

Pros Amazing integration, nice compact design, totally practical
Cons Palm OS could be a little bit more solid

So, I was looking online at new PDA's right when I was in the market for a cell phone too. So, I decided to pick one of these up. I figured, hey, its like a palm and a cell phone, so, the service will be mediocre, and the palm will keep dates and memos, thats all i need. However, i was suprized... Read full review »

Cons Screen hard to see in bright sunlight. Battery not swappable. Mute button can push...

I love this unit. I hated carrying a PDA AND a cellphone. I also hate carrying LARGE units. The 270 is compact, a full PDA and a hightech phone. I also like flip phones, protects the keyboard/screen and is better for talking in noisy environments.

The main drawback is the same as ANY... Read full review »

Pros Integrated cell phone/PDA, color screen, clear cell phone calling
Cons No pre-installed graffiti, screen is smaller than usual
Recommended it? No

My husband brought this home on loan for us to review. He wrote an official review of the Treo, and here's my unofficial review.

The Good: I liked the small size (fit neatly into the PDA slot in my messenger bag) -- a little smaller than my Visor Neo. The silver casing and rounded shape... Read full review »
