Cons No multiplayer gaming, very short

Introduction

The original Half-Life, released almost three years ago in 1998, revolutionalized the first person shooter genre on the PC. Never before had a strong story (loosely based on Stephen King's The Mist be combined with an action game to create a truly immersive gaming experience... Read full review »

Angry as heck-WriteOff: Half-Life isn't even half-fun!

Pros Ridiculously short, nothing new, stupid grunts
Cons Some new sounds. Yay.
Recommended it? No

Half-Life is about three years old now, and still this all-time classic has excellent sales figures. Valve and Sierra know all about this, of course, and bury us in spin-offs and company. Some of these are actually worth buying, but what they have done with Blue Shift made me angry as heck!

Cons A bit repetitive. No blood. No cosmetic damage possible (bullet-holes in walls)

Here is a day I thought would never come. Ever since the days of Doom I have been an avid hater of First Person Shooter (FPS) games. Sure, they were fun to pick up once and a while for a quick 15 minute bash with your mates, but the single player games tended to suck eggs and I just could never... Read full review »

Pros Installation is pretty easy and secure! Whoopee-doo!
Cons Short, boring, easy, nothing new... all in a $30 promise! YAY!
Recommended it? No

Yes, the greatest action game that ever lived has planted its seeds. Half-life, the award winning PC Game First Person shooter about a science teleportation experiment gone wrong (most likely because one of them nutty scientists spilled their coffee all over the control panel is one of the most... Pros Contains Opposing Force
Cons Way too short, nothing new, disappointing ending
Recommended it? No

Well, no, maybe not bacon, but perhaps something fishy. I knew something was wrong only a few minutes after installing Half Life: Blue Shift.

Following a similar trend that Red Storm tried with Rainbow Six: Covert Ops?offering a sub-standard add-on pack with a full game engine and... Read full review »

Pros Full of constant action throughout the games duration.
Cons Too short... No new weapons. No new alien creatures.

Half-Life Blue-Shift

Pros Includes High Definition-Pack, Being Another Characters, New levels
Cons Short
Recommended it? Yes

Warning: This game is only good for mature audience as there is graphic violence and some language.

I have to say that this game should be just as good as the original. As this game would start off you being one of the security guard name Barney. But things would get wacky when you will... Read full review »

Pros Graphics, Sound
Cons Nothing Really New To Talk About

Ever had one of those bad days where everything seemed to go wrong? How would you like it if aliens decided to take over the area in which you were the security over, and you had to go fix ALL the problems by yourself. Well that is what it is like in Half-Life: Blue Shift.

You are B... Read full review »

You Don't Buy it for the Blue Shift

Pros Comes with a full, standalone copy of Opposing Force and the high definition pack.
Cons Blue Shift itself is rather short and uninteresting, no new weapons.
Recommended it? Yes

Gearbox came up with a mixed bag on their second stab at a Half-Life expansion pack.

Half-Life, if you've been taking up residence under a rock as of late, is one of if not The most popular 3D first person shooter style games today. Half-Life is certainly nothing new, mind you. It's since... Read full review »

Not What Was Expected

Pros Very Detailed. New Models. Opposing Force Free. Exciting.
Cons Short. Somewhat Boring. Easy.
Recommended it? Yes

I am a true Half-Life player that was very disappointed when I played Blue Shift. Sure, the gameplay was great and it had lots of new models (not to mention Opposing Force free) but it wasn't that long and deep as expected.

At first, I tried out the training, expecting a whole new... Read full review »
