In the beginning, there was Gran Turismo. The game that single-handedly turned the racing game genre on its ear and launched a new wave of console racing "simulators". Gran Turismo 2 continued... Read full review »

?Grand Turismo 4? A Pure Racing Simulator.

Pros Tons of content, beautiful graphics, huge amount of cars and tracks to keep you busy.
Cons No damage modeling, earning licenses take a lot of patience, no online.
Recommended it? Yes

Even though I have never been a huge racing buff when it comes to video games, I have always played the Grand Turismo series including the first one that was on the PS1.  The series has always been noted for being the pioneer of true simulation racing, massive content, a variety of areas to... Pros Staggering depth.
Cons Bizarre AI.
Recommended it? Yes

Hard to imagine that it's been almost 4 years since the last Gran Turismo release in the US, but indeed Gran Turismo 3 saw its release in July of 2001, and was hailed as the savior for a new console looking to acquire exclusive, AAA content with fierce competition on the way from Microsoft and... King of racing games gets better(revised edition)

byFHfan Mar 22, 2005

Pros Superior graphics, great physics engine, lots of cars, super realistic
Cons Scripted A.I., unorganized races and parts
Recommended it? Yes

In my opinion, the Gran Turismo series has always been the cream of the crop of racing games, and the series has just gotten better with the fourth installment. Of course your enjoyment of this game probably depends on how much you enjoyed Gran Turismo 3, as there are many things that have remained... Read full review »

What part three should of been

byMC_Pucci Apr 14, 2005

Pros 650+ cars, better physics, lots of races
Cons no online, license tests
Recommended it? Yes

Graphics
It looks up to par with part 3, but they made some good fixes. My favorite fix is when you hit something hard, the screen will blur. That's a good feature since it will teach those people who like to play bumper cars a lesson and forces you to drive clean. Another major graphical... Read full review »

Just call this game "Jack"

Pros grafix...
Cons it ain't Project Gotham Racing 2, and that's a bad thing
Recommended it? No

Jack of a few trades, that is.

Let me make it extremely clear : I am more of a fan of the arcade-type racing games, such as your Need for Speed Underground(1&2), Project Gotham Racing 1 and Project Gotham Racing 2, and its older cousin Metropolis Street Racer. I try to avoid games like... Read full review »

GT4 review from a very unbiased Fan

Pros Great update on physics engine, more tracks and cars than GT3
Cons NO MULTIPLAYER REPLAY SAVES, NO DAMAGE (MECHANICALLY or COSMETIC) CAR DETAIL SAME AS GT3
Recommended it? Yes

First of all im a big fan of GT3 having bought a PS2 specifically, and only, for GT3 (IMHO Xbox and even DC were better than the PS2, its just that PS2 had the superior marketing and branding at the time...)

Back to the review though, heres my thoughts about GT4:
- The physics have... Read full review »

Before I render my epinion and reactions to Gran Turismo 4, I wanted to preface by commenting on the generally high quality of reviews I have read regarding Gran Turismo 4 here at Epinions. As there are several very detailed and well written reviews here, and as my listing the many new game... Read full review »

As real as it gets on this generation of consoles

Pros Stunning driving model, great graphics, amazing depth, perfect with the Driving Force...
Cons No online, simplistic AI, easy to cheat, @#$%&*! license tests, you can still buy victory
Recommended it? Yes

Gran Turismo has always been a technical, serious, almost clinically cold racing series. This is not a series for casual racing fans. It's not an arcade series. This is a series for people who worship the automobile. This is for people who love real driving. Gran Turismo 4 does not change any of... Read full review »

Pros graphics, great arcade/simuation balance, excellent controls and strategy elements
Cons robot A.I., too man vs. machine-like, needs personality
Recommended it? Yes

There are racing games galore nowadays. EA hit the jackpot with the Need For Speed: Underground franchise and many other games have jumped on the band wagon. Of course, much of this energy centered in around Vin Diesel's Fast and Furious movie and NFS:U clones have popped up everywhere. In those... Read full review »
