Gibson ES335 Dot Figured Top Semi Hollow with Case Vintage Sunburst
The Gibson ES335 Dot Reissue is a semi-hollow instrument with massive tone and incredible vibe. Gibson invented the semi-hollowbody electric guitar in 1958, offering players the perfect combination of traditional archtop looks and powerful solidbody performance. Today’s ES-335 continues to provide the tone and the look that inspires musicians in blues, rock and jazz. The American Made Memphis Series DOT Reissue features a maple body, a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, two Gibson '57 Classic humbuckers and Grover tuners. Includes deluxe Gibson hardshell case. From Chuck Berry to Larry Carlton, Freddie King to Alvin Lee, the Gibson ES-335 has proven to be one of the most popular and adaptable guitars ever created. Touted as the wonder-thin body by Gibson when it launched in 1958, the ES-335 represented a ground-breaking innovation in electric guitars. With its solid maple center block and f-hole semi-hollowbody design, the ES-335 effectively delivers the singing sustain of a solidbody while preserving the tone and richness of a full hollowbody—with no feedback. For 2006, the Custom Shop has made several changes to more accurately reflect an original ES-335, including a period-correct center block resulting in ten to fifteen percent weight reduction, a slightly thinner body, and lower binding height. Gibson Custom ES-335 Dot Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst, Figured Maple
With the exception of the Les Paul Standard, there are few other guitars in the Gibson catalog that can match the ES-335 for sheer star power. It's been seen in the hands of guitarists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, B. B. King and session legend, Larry Carlton (who has his own 335 Signature model). And of all the ES-335s Gibson has made, the one with the most magic is the 1960Dot-Neck. With its arched top, f-holes and solid maple center block, the semi-hollow 335 has all the raw power of a solid body, but with the refined elegance of a old school Gibson archtop. The ES-335 is the perfect guitar for practically any musical setting. It's as perfect a fit for jazz and fusion as it is for blues, hard rock and beyond. Later models had block inlays, but the dot-neck will forever hold a special place in the hearts of most guitar players.
