Worked great but not as user friendly as some
This is an express review. I had an etrex for a year. It was durable, got it at a great price, and was generally happy with it. Only works if there aren't trees in the area.
My wife and I purchased a Garmin eTrex for day hikes. What a disappointment. It loses the signal whenever we are around trees. It even loses the signal walking down the street where we live when there are trees on the side of the road.

Rugged all-around GPS
I bought my eTrex in 2000 and it is still going strong. The built-in features give you good navigation tools with a simple easy-to-learn interface. Nice product!
The eTrex is truly a great device. The battery life and durability is great and works just great for my needs (geocaching). However, if you need something truly dependable and super-accurate, look higher up on the line such as the Vista. Otherwise, a great product and would recommend. Read full review »
