Pretty good product - less than wonderful communications

Pros Voice directions and maps are better than some I've seen.
Cons Communications with Olathe, Kansas
Recommended it? Yes

I've used the Street Pilot 2610 from Hawaii to Florida and a couple of dozen states in between. As for the maps, their source is the same as most mapping programs. My biggest complaint is the cost of an annual update that may or may not have the correct exit off the interstate. However, I've found... Read full review »

I have an Acura RL and bought it used. Unfortunately, the prior owner didn't opt for the NAV. As a Realtor? I have to drive around the city a lot and often find myself lost in unfamiliar territory. It's really embarrassing to show homes to clients and have to make so many u-turns. I quickly... Read full review »

Pros Great tool for travel and home.
Cons Maps and routes may not be 100%.
Recommended it? Yes

I got my 2610 last Xmas. What everyone says about it is right on the money. It is a great tool, BUT have a back up ready just in case. We took a trip from Va to S.C & it took us by back road, Highway, then back road. It did the same thing coming back, even making the map adjustments. It took longer... Read full review »

After using a Magellan Roadmate in a Hertz rental car, I started researching GPS units and settled on this Garmin 2610. The Magellan got me around Southern California perfectly on roads I was totally unfamiliar with. Unfortunately, the Garmin unit does not SEEM to be as good (but that may be... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use, very accurate, lots of features, and can use it in any car.
Cons No battery pack, so can's use it hiking or outside the car.
Recommended it? Yes

My wife got me the StreetPilot 2610 for Christmas. I guess she got tired of my male "vector in on it" system!
This is my first GPS system so maybe I'm unduly amazed at how accurate it is, with clear voice and text instructions.
Very detailed maps. Lots of capabilities-- be careful, with... Read full review »

Good unit with minor flaws

Pros Fast mapping and corrections
Cons Power cords, tech support, slow process for downloading maps.
Recommended it? Yes

This is my third Garmin unit in ten years.
The 2610 is superior to my early model SPIII and costs less.
My only complaints are: 1) the power cords slip out of their mounting and break internally in short order. I have been through 3 in the past year @ $20.00 a pop.
Garmin Tech... Read full review »

Unbelievable product - Excellent

Pros Intuitive menus, excellent COLOUR touch screen
Cons Chunky design. Needs perfect syntax when inputting addresses. Does not allow full postcode
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this product a few days ago and love it. I justified the cost to my girlfriend by her bad map reading ability. The gadget gives me plenty of notice when approaching a junction or roundabout, which way to turn, it does not leave it to the last minute. You can hit a speak button at any... Read full review »

Great Unit; HORRIBLE Customer Service

Pros Great Unit
Cons HORRIBLE customer service
Recommended it? No

While the 2610 is a very good unit expect to wait at LEAST 30 minutes for customer service. Have made three calls to Garmin and all have been at LEAST 30 mins; also sent two emails to Garmin for update disks (entitled to free update)with NO response. Thought you might want to know this tidbit... Read full review »

Pros very compact, voice activated, remote control, touch screen is a major plus.
Cons not sure how to set way points on pc, the power cord should be retractable.

The body and construction are a perfect size. The touch screen is totally viewable and I love the fact there are no moving parts. Read full review »

Pros Easy to use, clear display, audio, touch screen
Cons Compact Flash could be larger.
Recommended it? Yes

This is my first GPS unit. It was a breeze to set-up and get started. The display is easy to read and the audio makes directions so simple. This one is for my wife's car and now I'm saving up to get one for my car. Read full review »
