Feature Rich, but pricey

Adventures with Garmin III+ on two wheels.
I bought my Garmin III late in the product cycle, and was able to get it a $293+ tax at a Walmart in the Houston area.
I decided that the Garmin III has exactly the features that I needed, and that there was no need to wait for the Garmin V. I was right!

I realised that I forgot to mention that since Selective Availability (the "noise" added to the signal up until 2000 to make positional fixes less accurate) was turned off, the accuracies I am achieving with my GPS3+ are usually to within 15 feet, often 12...

Many interesting windows
I purchased my Garmin III-Plus GPS July 1999 and am very pleased with it. It has operated very reliably and never "locked up". I never have seen stray marks in the display.
Signal reception is excellent. In my car resting on the front seat (or in my lap when passenger in a friend's car)...

I Love This Unit Because...
I think that this is THE greatest "Gadget" that my friend has ever owned! I purchased this product for him about 8 months ago, and he's still having fun using it. GPS III: A great personal GPS unit
I have owned my GPS III for several years now and I love it. I use it mainly while driving and it sits nicely on the dash. All the maps are preprogramed which is nice because you do not have to buy all these map cards. The accessories seem a little expensive. Also the unit will drain 4 AA batteries... Read full review »
