Pros Built in maps, accurate location information
Cons NOT enough MEMORY!
Recommended it? Yes

I have to start by saying: I LOVE THIS GPS UNIT!

I have been driving from the U.S to Canada, back and forth, many
times a month for the last little while, and this device has been
with me all of the way.

It has very accurate highway information, like what kind of gas... Read full review »

Pros Fast, accurate, large display, moving map
Cons expensive

I bought a Garmin GPS III about three months ago. I had a simpler Garmin model that sprung a leak and the moisture in the unit appeared to have damaged the display, so I up graded. The new Garmin was vastly superior to the obsolete unit I had before. The new unit had 12 parallel receivers and it... Read full review »

I purchased my GPS III+ online, about 18 months ago. Primaraly purchased for marine use, I very quickly discovered it's usefulness in my automobile...a place I spend a great deal more time in than a boat ! As a salesperson, this little hummer really helps me find my way around to appointments at... Read full review »

Pros Small, good reception, great features, water resistant.
Cons Nothing I have encountered so far, really!
Recommended it? Yes

I bought my Garmin III late in the product cycle, and was able to get it a $293+ tax at a Walmart in the Houston area.

I decided that the Garmin III has exactly the features that I needed, and that there was no need to wait for the Garmin V. I was right!

When unpacking the unit... Read full review »

Pros Well-laid out features
Cons Map features "blank out" during scrolling, short on memory, monochrome display

I have owned a Garmin GPS II, then a GPSIII, which I traded in for the III+ under a manufacturer's buy-back program. All have been great units - full-featured and easy to configure - and I have little to add to the other reviews, except that if you don't need a GPS now, just wait until the... Read full review »

I bought the Garmin III+ about 4 months ago. I wanted a GPS that I could take hiking and traveling that would also allow for downloads to my computer. ** updated 20th december 2001 **

I realised that I forgot to mention that since Selective Availability (the "noise" added to the signal up until 2000 to make positional fixes less accurate) was turned off, the accuracies I am achieving with my GPS3+ are usually to within 15 feet, often 12... Read full review »

I purchased my Garmin III-Plus GPS July 1999 and am very pleased with it. It has operated very reliably and never "locked up". I never have seen stray marks in the display.

Signal reception is excellent. In my car resting on the front seat (or in my lap when passenger in a friend's car)... Read full review »

I think that this is THE greatest "Gadget" that my friend has ever owned! I purchased this product for him about 8 months ago, and he's still having fun using it. He currently lives in Tokyo, Japan, so he can't really use the base map features... but he does use it to find out how far he jogs... Read full review »

I have owned my GPS III for several years now and I love it. I use it mainly while driving and it sits nicely on the dash. All the maps are preprogramed which is nice because you do not have to buy all these map cards. The accessories seem a little expensive. Also the unit will drain 4 AA batteries... Read full review »
