Garmin eTrex Legend
This is my first GPS unit. So I'm still learning how to use it. So far, pretty satisfied. I found it on sale for $119 at Office Max when other stores were $169-$199. I bought two and gave one to my boyfriend they were so cheap.

Lousy customer support
3 months to downloaded some of the charts I need, and I had to mail it to Garmin twice to get even that much.

Amazing
I have been using this GPS Etrex Legend for over 3 years. Recently I went to India and tried to use this in Bangalore. After about 5-8 minutes of tracking satellite , to my amazement, it showed up all the nearby cities. I could use it all through my trip to India. However, it did not show up... Read full review »
Not reliable
I have had 4 of these units now over the past two years...and each one has broken after several months - year use. You'd think I'd learn my lesson and get a different brand or model that was more reliable! Thankfully I bought them at REI that allows returns graciously.

Short battery life, not Mac compatible

Fine in the open, terrible in the trees!
It seems by reading tons of reviews on the Legend that the antenna really is the achilles heel of this GPS! In the 3 years I've had my unit, I can say that this is true too. Well Worth it!
I bought this unit brand new for $130 for my trip to the Rockies and I was suprised by it's performance and how many techonology is packed in this little gadget!

I have had my Garmin etrex legend for almost a year and have to say it is a great GPS for the price. I use it for when I go kayaking and ATV riding and will soon be using it on my Sea-Doo.
