Pros Better learning curve, graphics, translation
Cons Plot was not as engaging
Recommended it? Yes

To be fair, I've been playing Final Fantasy since the Super Nintendo, and Squaresoft has never missed the mark yet. This time, while they didn't miss, it wasn't dead center.

I can understand the inexperienced players would find this game most cool- indeed, it is. But compared to the... Read full review »

Pros Great storyline, aewsome graphics, overall fun game to play.
Cons Not so good music, a rough spot in the combat.
Recommended it? Yes

When this game first came out in October, I wasn't sure if I should buy it or not. Luckily, I did and it was worth it! The price is now $39.99 which is $10 less than before. It had me personally hooked for hours at a time, and I really enjoyed it.

Storyline- The storyline in this game was... Read full review »

Pros 4 Characters instead of 3. Characters are more integrated with the story.
Cons The ability system is a bit restricting.
Recommended it? Yes

If you have played the previous versions of final fantasy you would notice a great difference in the battle system when ariving at FFIX. They have tried to simplify the system as well as make the characters more individual, mainly so that they may fit into the story better, but also to try and make... Read full review »

Pros Characters are almost real in this fantasy game.
Cons It ends eventually...

Final Fantasy is a series long in the making, and all of us have come to expect great things from the games. I still believe that FF7 was the greatest game ever, but FF9 is a strong mix of the great old features, and new innovative ones.

Graphics
This game is a beautiful sight. Every... Read full review »

Pros Great graphics and FMV.
Cons Too easy to beat the enemies. Weird character designs (compared to FF7 or 8).
Recommended it? No

Woah! Great visuals!
But it should have been made before Final Fantasy 8.
Final Fantasy 8 has more realistic characters.

I never really liked the Final Fantasy series til I played FF7. Then, I fell in love with the girl of my dreams, Aeris. lol
Anyway, Final Fantasy 7 has... Read full review »

Pros Hey! it's Final Fantasy man!!!
Cons I hate nothing about it.
Recommended it? Yes

When I saw this game at the store, I was in shock. With the other Final Fantasy games (7 & 8) the television would at least do some sort of advertisement before it hit stores. I am an avid player of final fantasy games and I own all of them from the regular nintendo version to the Final Fantasy 9... Read full review »

The Final Final Fantasy

byAeniph Mar 6, 2001
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 1 Comment
Pros Immersive characters, impressive graphics, good ability system
Cons not enough plot, characters become too powerful too fast, not enough side quests
Recommended it? Yes

I found Final Fantasy 9 a refreshing change. When I played Final Fantasy 8 I found it hard to care about the characters. I was waiting for Square to kill one of them off. But it didn't happen. In 9, I cared about the characters. That is the first thing that I found wonderful about the game. Another... Read full review »

SSDD (same software, different discs)

Pros High quality CGI, simplified interface, involving quests
Cons Slay the dragons, save the princess, yadda yadda yadda...

...But that's a good thing. Square has churned out yet another entry in their series of standard-setting role-playing games (RPGs) and it is absolutely up to par. The bad news is that it really isn't appreciably better than the last two entries in this series. There are still lots of discs to get... Read full review »

Pros WOW WOW WOW WOW... Seriously WOW. It might actually be better than FF6
Cons They should probably quit with the damned love stories among young people. And there are...

Personally after playing FF7 I asserted to all of my friends that it was truly a terrible game. (which I fully believed [and still believe]) I didn't even finish Final Fantasy 8 it was so bad and I DID NOT purchase Final Fantasy 9. I didn't even want to play FF9. FF3 (err 6) was wonderful along... Read full review »

Cons Trance system, not too powerful eidolons

As always, Square has done it again! Final Fantasy 9 has taken the new spotlight of Square's game lineup, and it lives up to the great title of Final Fantasy.

The setting once again takes place in medievil times just like the older Anthology days. The plot opens up with a group of thieves... Read full review »
