Replay Two Classics for One Price! FINAL FANTASY I & II: DAWN OF SOULS

byJiggyJay May 29, 2011

Pros Classic stuff, very cheap, gameplay, TWO games
Cons Dated, FF2's battle system, not a whole lot of replay value
Recommended it? Yes

Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls is a ported remake of the first two Final Fantasy games, which was released on the Gameboy Advance in 2004. This was clearly Nintendo's attempt at making these games accessible to their fans who didn't catch the games when they were first released in the eighties... Read full review »

Pros Good Value, Easy to Use, Challenging
Cons Heavy, Too Short, Poor Graphics
Recommended it? Yes

Final Fantasy 1 & 2 Dawn of Souls are enhanced remakes of the first two games in the series. You get both games on one cartridge- a nice deal. Also included is a beastiary for both titles, extra mode for FF 2. The games are really old-school, and challenging to new gamers. Read full review »

Pros Two classic RPGs on one cartridge; still fun after all these years
Cons Games are primitive by today's standards; some exhaustive dungeons
Recommended it? Yes

The Final Fantasy series has become legendary among RPG fans, and with good reason -- Square has spent a good deal of time and effort on each title, so the series has enjoyed a long life. Of course, the first installment of Final Fantasy appeared for the Nintendo Entertainment System way on back in... Read full review »

Pros Complete games of Final Fantasy 1 and 2, with bonus dungeons and enhanced graphics.
Cons The games havn't aged well, and the experience just seems dry at times.

I love Final Fantasy games, I just have other games I love just as much so I havn't gotten around to playing the full series yet. I did own Final Fantasy 1 on my beloved NES, so I remember that game well. So, heres the review on a delightful repackaging of a classic that you can play on the go!... Read full review »

I would just like everybody to know that I love each and every final fantasy game ever made. They are all great, and they are the games that define the RPG genre. Final Fantasy 1 and 2 takes the classic 8-bit NES games and turns them into glorious 16-bit for the Game Boy Advance.

Final Fantasy I & II Dawn of Souls: When Remakes Go Bad

bykjell1979 Jan 18, 2005

Pros Final Fantasy II has better balance, the new Final Fantasy II content
Cons Final Fantasy I is really messed up, too easy, extra dungeons are monotonous
Recommended it? No

Those of you who remember some of my reviews from earlier years, might know that I really don't like it when a company messes with the dynamics of a proven game or series. This is exactly the problem with Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls. I was expecting this game to be a Gameboy Advance port of... Read full review »
