The Eliant 820 8mm tape drive, combined with low-cost metal particle (MP) media, delivers the lowest total cost of ownership in its class. Exabytes Eliant 820 backs up 7 GB to a single tape cartridge at 1 MB/second (native). Because tapes recorded on the Eliant 820 can be read by the Exabyte Mammoth drive, there is a migration path from the Eliant 820 into high-performance MammothTape technology, protecting customers investment. In addition, Eliant is certified Microsoft Windows NT compatible and is supported by Novell Netware and most UNIX operating systems.
