Performing Great . . . .So Far!

bytbrown Jul 20, 2009

Pros long pivot cord, even dependable heat with all fabrics, burst-of-steam feature
Cons none so far
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the Euro-Pro Shark G1490 Professional Electronic Iron about six months ago after my son borrowed my old dollar store iron and never returned it.  I had only paid ten dollars for the old iron but it had lasted me over five years so I figured I'd gotten my money out of it.  When it was clear... It is indeed a piece of junk

Pros Looks good. Long cord. Heavy weight seems to indicate high-quality.
Cons Stops working. Takes forever to heat up. Ridiculously expensive for what you get.
Recommended it? No

I'm afraid this review won't add anything to the debate. This iron is a piece of junk. I see that mine lasted longer than most -- three years -- before giving up the ghost. But it's been a painful three years.

From Day One, it's been very difficult to fill the iron with water. The filler... Read full review »

As my title reads, and as apparently everything in the store reads; this iron was Made in China.

After our 25 year old Black & Decker Self-minding iron that was purchased used at a garage sale in 1984 quit working my mother sauntered off to Cheap-o-world and bought an $8 iron to finish her... Read full review »

Steam Extreme!

Pros Steam Powerhouse, Steams Vertically. Large Water Reservoir
Cons Will not steam automatically on Wool/Silk  or Nylon settings.. Uses standby power.
Recommended it? Yes

Why all the dismal reviews for this iron? It certainly doesn't seem to be as bad as people are making it out to be on here.

Overview: What sold me on this iron was its proclaimed steaming power.  I wanted to try something new. I usually buy the Black and Decker brand. One of these days... Read full review »

This Shark needs to be Harpooned!

Pros Cool video on the box that will entertain your kids for 10 or 15 minutes.
Cons Poor Quality, Short Life Span, Possible Fire Hazard
Recommended it? No

My last iron was a $100 Rowenta Pro. Loved it while it worked but for a hundred bucks, I wanted something to last more than a year.

Several months ago we saw the Shark Euro-Pro at BJ's Wholesale Club. It was on a featured display with a video...there's even a cool video right on the box!... Read full review »

Shark Euro Steam Iron

Pros NONE WARRANTED FOR THIS IRON
Cons CHEAPLY MADE CHROME FINISH IS PEELING OFF. DRIPS WATER CONSISTENTLY STAINING CLOTHES.
Recommended it? No

It was with great pleasure that I watched the Shark being compressed by our Garbage Truck today. This piece of garbage has stained its last piece of clothing at our house. I have had to wash more clothing since I purchased this iron due to staining drips than I dare to count. The iron went out... Read full review »

Fancy looking outside, shoddy parts inside

Pros Pretty stainless steel, fancy looking lights
Cons Tips over easily, hard to fill, quits working, doesn't steam well, cheaply made
Recommended it? No

Quite literally the only thing this iron has going for it is the 'fancy' stainless look and it's long cord. Even that doesn't last. It's sole plate scratches easily and gets a grungy dingy coating on it after a short time using it.

Iron cord wraps around bottom of base which is kind of a... Read full review »

Hi, all -

I seriously wish I would have read your comments before putting the Shark on my registry. My husband and I have now been married 5 months, and received this as a gift for the wedding.

At first, I was so excited to have such a great iron. As other posts have said, it... Read full review »

Pros Adjustable Steam, Worked Great While It Worked
Cons Quit working after 6 months of light service
Recommended it? No

My story is similar to others I've read, but I feel like I need to add my two cents worth. I purchased this iron at Target 6 months ago. I used the iron on average 4 times per week for touch up ironing & steaming.
Initially it worked great. I loved the adjustable steam settings & the weight of... Read full review »

Shark Iron -- auto shut off shuts off all the time

Pros Looks Great
Cons Doesn't work
Recommended it? No

I wish I had looked at epinions before I bought this iron.

I liked the styling and I have a Shark floor steamer that works great. The auto shut off on the iron kicks in after the documented 7 minutes and no amount of "gently rocking back and forth" will turn it back on. If you unplug/plug... Read full review »
