I use the eureka "the boss" 4870 for cleaning a 2 story house. What I love most is the strong suction that does a great job on the rugs. The very long power cord is handy as well. Great Value and Suction but scares the baby
This vacuum is a great value. It is large and somewhat heavy, but self-propels pretty well. It has a knob that you turn when using the hose so the brush stops rolling and doesn't wear out your carpet. What a great feature! Design/reliability/service are dissapointing
Soon after buying the vacuume, the belt shredded; replacements either shredded or stretched to the point where the brush rotor only spun on the hardwood floor. Eureka 4870 rocks!
I needed a new vacuum with a HEPA filter, for a child with allergies. I really really like this vacuum. It's easy to use, not too loud, very good suction, seems sturdy, just does an all around great job. I'm very happy with it, and feel I got a lot for my money.

Great value, better than most expensive vacuums

I too thought this vacuum was great...cheap, worked well, cleaned well, a little heavy and noisy but I was willing to put up with that if it cleaned the dog/cat hair out of my carpets and couches.

Bye-bye yellow lab fur
I recieved this vacuum as a gift and couldn't be more pleased. It has a very powerful suction which has been able to suck up dog fur that my old upright had been unable to get and has been on my area rugs for months. Eureka The Boss Smartvac 5870 is the worst vacuum I've ever owned.
We bought this vacuum last year because CONSUMER REPORTS said it was great at vacuuming up pet hair. My experience is that it is the worst vacuum for picking up pet hair. I have to sweep up hair with a broom after I vacuum with it on the kitchen floor. The pet hair is Schnauzer hair.

Cheaply Made
I had done extensive research before I bought this vacuum. I purchased it in 2004 and not even a year later it was falling apart.
