Pros Fast, inexpensive ink costs, relatively quiet and reliable
Cons Occasional cleaning needed, better for text than graphics
Recommended it? Yes

Of the many printers in our office, the Epson C880 is the one that's reliably up and running. You can buy this printer for a meager $80. and it will last years. It's compact design requires limited desk space, it's fairly quiet and it prints at a fast 22 pages per minute (black ink) 12 pages per... Read full review »

Unreliable Printer Company

bysunnyflaj Jul 5, 2008
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Print quality is ok
Cons They break and way too soon
Recommended it? No

Not that expensive to buy just costly to own. My experience with Epson has not been good at all.
The first one broke after a few months but within Epson's warranty. After sending them back my broken printer, they sent me a replacement. It was a rebuilt unit that was missing parts and also did... Read full review »

The Epson C88 Plus, Has Many Minuses

byTrebor1415 Mar 10, 2008
17 Helpfuls 18 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Still has a serial port
Cons Inconsistent print quality, ink runs out quickly
Recommended it? No

If you read through my reviews you'll see I have a Love-Hate relationship with technology. All I want is to do my work in the easiest and most efficient way possible. So, I love technology that works, is easy to use, and produces consistent results.

Unfortunately, the relationship I have... Read full review »

Epson Stylus C88 InkJet Photo Printer-Only marginal

bysweepsailor Jun 20, 2007
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Very cost effective, good for black and white text (occasionally).
Cons No consistent, trouble free prints! Requires constant operator maintenance every time it...
Recommended it? No

I bought this printer ONLY after my very stable and reliable R300 finally gave up the ghost and would not unclog. I would not pay to have it repaired when it cost twice what a new one would run. Now I used it constantly and it printed consistently wonderful black and white text and stunning photos... Read full review »

Epson industry standard quality in a table-top personal printer!

byyellowswan May 12, 2007

Pros Great printer for short-run photos! Good for standard printing too.
Cons Requires Epson paper for photo quality. Function buttons quirky, intake paper tray too...
Recommended it? Yes

This is easy to set up printer with small foot print for cramped quarters. The print quality is excellent, though for photos you really must use Epson photo paper for the best results. The Epson Stylus C88 operates smoothly, though take care re. insertion of paper into the somewhat strangely... Read full review »

Mixed Bag--The Epson C88 Plus Printer

bykengland4 May 4, 2007
15 Helpfuls 16 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Individual ink tanks, long-lasting ultra durabrite inks, easy setup.
Cons Will leave you wanting more if you're used to "photo" printers.
Recommended it? Yes

The Epson C-88+ Stylus printer is a handsome, if somewhat large, printer, cleverly outfitted with smoked black panels, and a very cool smoked-black transluscent paper guide that makes it look smaller than it really is. It has 3 rubbery, firm buttons on the top, which are a little hard to push, but... Read full review »

C88: Mar '06 - Apr '07; RIP

bynamekus May 2, 2007
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros High quality text and photo printing
Cons printer durability, paper feed alignment, ink cost, ink wastage
Recommended it? No

Received the C88 as a free replacement from Epson for a C82 that failed after 2 years use -- the C82's print head moved across the page as if printing, but nothing printed.

After only 13 months of light duty in-home use, the same problem occurred with the C88.

For me, the top... Read full review »

Epson Stylus C88 plus; good choice for general printing

byfriendly_jacek Dec 22, 2006
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Fast, economy, and decent quality printer for general use; aftermarket ink can be cheap
Cons OEM ink is expensive; sometimes print is tilted; tears paper if loaded carelessly
Recommended it? Yes

I got this Epson Stylus C88 plus (epinions.com doesn't accept the plus sign!) printer at my work office as a replacement for aging HP printer that started to malfunction badly. I was initially uneasy with this brand as I used to own Epson printer 10 years ago that broke within 1 to 2 years of light... Read full review »

don't buy it!

bykellynni Dec 6, 2006
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros good print quality
Cons paper feed jams continually
Recommended it? No

I bought this printer two weeks ago. It is my first Epson printer, and my last. It continually jams. It takes plain white paper fine, but if you want to print a photo or a card, you have to feed one sheet at a time, or it will jam. Read full review »

Pros Good value for the price. Fantastic customer service.
Cons Ink is expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

Epson makes a good, inexpensive printer. If you only need a basic printer, this model will be perfect for you. It's easy to install and easy to use. Additionally, Epson has EXCELLENT customer service. When my previous Epson printer stopped working properly for no apparent reason, they sent me a new... Read full review »

Same general idea

byWndrMdgt Dec 1, 2006
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Cheap, fast, good quality photos and other printing
Cons You'll buy a new one every year
Recommended it? Yes

Outstanding print quality, reasonably fast, handles lots of paper types.

Noisy as heck.

Shreds papers something awful. This printer after 4 months started destroying cheap copier paper like it's going out of style. However, photo printing and envelopes still work fine (go... Read full review »

Brand new with ink for $59 from Epson direct

byw0kie Oct 10, 2006
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Archival ink, dual printer port, $59 brand new factory direct. Heck of a deal
Cons 30 day warranty because of factory direct pricing
Recommended it? Yes

I bought a supposedly "refurbished" Epson Stylus C88 from the Epson store for $59 to replace an HP inkjet that mechanically died in 1 year and 4 days. No sales tax on the Epson and the shipping was free. Out of the box it looked factory brand new complete with see thru protective film over the lid... Read full review »

Epson Stylus C88 Inkjet Printer - fairly inexpensive with high quality printing, but slow

byjwhitakr Nov 30, 2005

Pros High quality text and photo printing, not expensive, separate ink cartridges
Cons Slow print speed

Background
After moving into my new house and setting up my new office area, I discovered that my old Epson C42UX printer was no longer working. I'm not sure if it was damaged in the move, or if it had malfunctioned prior to the move and I just hadn't realized it. I didn't have any way to... Read full review »

Okay, if you have read some of my earlier reviews, you know that overall I am an Epson fan, mostly because of their high quality color photo printing. Well, I can tell you, I am beginning to tire of a few things. My last printer was the Epson C86, which died. My review is posted of the C86.

Best Printer for the $

byfocusboy0383 Sep 29, 2005
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros under $80, 2 printer ports, 5760 x 1440dpi, CMYK
Cons consumes inker faster then some others
Recommended it? Yes

The Epson C88 in my opinion is the best printer around for under $100. The C88 is the newer version of the older C86. The main difference between the 2 would be that the C88 takes the new DURA Bright ink cartridges. The printer is a fast 22 ppm black and an average 12 ppm color. The resolution is...
