Konami Hates Us All: Ephemeral Fantasia
Released in Japan as Reiselied: Ephemeral Fantasia (the 'Reiselied' got dropped somewhere along the way to an American release), Konami's musical role-playing game has the distinction of being the first traditional RPG to appear on Sony's Playstation 2 gaming console. Of course, the road to the PS2... Read full review »
EF:The good and bad.
After reading many, many reviews and listening to different opinions on this game, which were mostly split 50/50, I decided to rent Ephemeral Fantasia to try it myself.
I really consider it a hit or miss game, and I personally liked most of the aspects of it, however, I am reviewing it...

If it's this hard to spell, it can't be that good...
To be short, this was one of the worst games that I have ever purchased. I'm an avid RPG fan, but Epheremal Fantasia was not able to even spark my interest after I tried on several occasions to play it.
The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, but good graphics can't compensate for the bad...

All work and no play makes a bad game.
This game was able to keep me amused for the length of its rental, but about a day after I released...that game sucked! This review will be divided into three sections, plot, characters, and continuing interest. Then you can decide if you want to play it or not. (The numbers to the left are the... Read full review »

Ephemeral Fantasia
The eccentric title is only the beginning of the crazy ideas that grace this German-inspired role-playing game. You play as Mouse, a poet and songwriter with a talking guitar named Pachimo. You've received an incitation to play an original song at the wedding of a princess on a distant island, and you have but five days to complete the tune. Once you arrive on the Island of Pandureu, you discover that the land has been placed under a time-loop spell that causes the same day to repeat over and over again. What's worse is that the hex has been cast by the princess' fianci, Zerphapolis. You try to defeat the evil Zerphapolis at the wedding, but you fail. Luckily, the time loop allows you to repeat the wedding day over and over again, making allies and collecting valuable items for the next time around. All of the battles take place in real time, giving the game a perfect balance of intriguing story, tough puzzles, and fast-paced action. With such original gameplay, EPHEMERAL FANTASIA is a one-of-a-kind.
