I PURCHASED THE EMERSON MW8999SB MICROWAVE FROM TARGET. IT LOOKS NICE WITH ITS STAINLESS STEEL LOOK , ALL SHINNY. Worst Product Ever?
I bought the Emerson MW8991SB 900 watt microwave at Walmart, thinking that it was pretty and that Emerson was a good company, so it would last (I am a mother of four and had to scramble to come up with the money for a new microwave unexpectedly when my old one died after over a decade of use)... Surprisingly good microwave!
The Emerson MW8991SB microwave oven is a great microwave. The preset buttons make it so easy. There are buttons for Potato, Beverage, Popcorn, and Pizza just to name a few. It's great to be able to start the microwave by touching one button. Read full review »

Don't even think about it
Bought on sale at K-Mart. Took it home and within 3 hours of setting it up the front panel locked up. Unplugged and it worked for another week before completely failing. Guess I was lucky it didn't last based on other reviews about the fire hazard. Returned for refund. Read full review »

Do Not Buy
We bought the Emerson MW8991SB microwave on July 4, 2008, it just quit a week later. Took it back to the store and they replaced it with the same model, which lasted another week before doing exactly the same thing. Made a humming noise, popped loudly, then just died. Fire Hazard
I bought my Emerson MW8992SB a year ago at a Target store. Last night while I was cooking a potato (which I had poked holes in), the element on the right side of the microwave burst into flame. I am glad I was in the kitchen at the time, or the fire may have spread.

WARNING - FIRE HAZARD
My MW8991SB was also just a few short months old and nearly burned down my kitchen. A small foil-backed cardboard panel inside the unit seems to have failed and pulses of sparks and smoke immediately start when the unit is in operation. It is a complete fire hazard. China once again steals your money
Lasted 8 months of light use. Last microwave lasted 7 years. On a cost-per-use basis this is probably the most expensive kitchen appliance I've owned.
At around $80, it cost me $10 per month or $2.50 a week, or $.35 a day; That's somewhere between 5 and 10 cents a minute for use.

Another Bad one
I bought this microwave a few months ago and about 2 weeks after the 90 day return ran out it blew up with a huge spark out the back. I now have to find a way of returning it for warranty replacement and hope I have better luck than previous users. AVOID!!! Read full review »

TARGET SOLD ME THIS MICROWAVE.
IT STOPPED WORKING JUST AFTER 1 MONTH!!!!

UNSAFE
After only six months of regular usage (4-5 times per week). This microwave started to blow flames out of the side panel inside. If actual microwaves are harmful, I am sure this Emerson microwave is! AVOID this model for the safety of your family. Read full review »
Stopped working after 14 months
I have bought the oven 14 months ago at Target. Everything seems to working fine except... it does not heat anymore. I have not used it much since I bought it. Could it be a case of "if you don't use it, you loose it"? The warranty has expired, so i am done with it.
