Not the greatest 3 in 1 out there.
The Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1 carseat did not impress me. It meets minimum safety standards and seems comfortable for little ones, but that's where it ends. A pain to switch seats
So the convertible seat is supposed to be from 5lbs up to 100lbs so you shouldn't need a different car seat. We used our Graco infant car seat until 5 months and then switched to this. Worst Car Seat Ever
We have 2 children 18 months apart so we have 2 car seats. This one and a Britex. This one is horrible.
