This vacuum is great. I had just vacuumed my den (before the old vacuum caught on fire) and then filled up the dirt cup on just the den alone when I got this one. This is the BEST vac you can buy.
I thought I would test drive the "purple people eater". It eats everything but! I am so impressed with the amount of dirt this pulled from my carpet. I use a Kirby 6 and I change the bag often and clean it every couple of months but with the Dyson Animal there is no comparison.

Dyson Animal - did not have a good experience
I went through two Dyson Animals in a matter of 5 months. It worked great on our hardwoods (sucking up an amazing amount of fine dirt), however, when we used it on our carpeting it made a horrible sound.
