Absolutely great for dog hair, and fine on area rugs!
I have 2 Great Pyrenees (long outer coat, plus lush dense undercoat) plus a cat and had been frustrated with all of the vacuums I had tried. My most recent, a Hoover Wind Tunnel, was constantly breaking belts, and really was not picking the hair up all that well anyway.
