Unreliable
The Dyson is like an English sports car--great "when" it works. It's actually OK on cut pile carpet but horrible, horrible, horrible on berber. I Love It
We have a Siberian Husky and an Alaskan Malamute, reason enough to purchase this vacuum. They are shed machines and this vacuum takes it up quite nicely.

Dyson has some problems!
I purchased the vacuum 2 weeks ago. Vacuumed 7 or so times. We have 3 adults 3 kids and a golden retriever in our house. I will write my cons here- too much to fit in one place.

Amazing!!!
I have always bought the vacuums recommended by Consumer Reports. My most recent was the Hoover Wind Tunnel - still number one by Consumer Reports. We bought our Dyson at Sam's Club for $415.00--They sell it as the 'DC07 Full Kit Vacuum' and it comes with the floor tool and the Animal tool (which is Awesome). So it is essentially the same thing as the Animal, but cheaper than anywhere else!

After giving this vacuum over 3 weeks opportunity to impress me, I finally had to return it to Best Buy.
