A Dyson At Last! Was It Worth The Money?

byjudybluez Oct 21, 2013
11 Helpfuls 12 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Easy to manoever, cleans well, easy to change between carpet and floor.
Cons Expensive, doesn't vacuum under the bed, takes time to change to hose and back.
Recommended it? No

I wanted a Dyson for so long, and bought this upright when we moved into a house with lots of carpet, and lots of tile as well.

It sucks up really well, especially in the beginning. Human hair gets wound around the brush, which is to be expected. I actually read the instructions and... Read full review »

I can't believe I'm writing a review about a VACUUM CLEANER! (There's a good reason!)

Pros Some brilliant innovations. Powerful suction. Easy-empty bin. No dust smell whatsoever...
Cons Annoying stretch hose. No headlight... are you kidding? Lousy cord design. Frustrating on...
Recommended it? Yes

First of all, let me just get something off my chest about this Dyson fellow. It bothers me more than a little to see a grown man on TV with a pained look on his face telling me how frustrated he was by his previous vacuum cleaners. I'm 41 years old and I have plenty of buddies... and never... not... Read full review »

Best vacuum. Period.

Pros Flexible, durable, cleans perfectly
Cons price
Recommended it? Yes

I had spent the past few years constantly steam cleaning my floors every few months. With company constantly coming over including kids and messy teenagers all I could think about was the dirt in the carpet. My old vacuum did almost nothing but push around dirt and dust and (grossly) hair. The... Read full review »

Pros Excellent design is easy to use, powerful, and just plain cool.
Cons Hose is not elastic enough and somewhat difficult to use at first.
Recommended it? Yes

I always have friends and family in and out of my house and I also run a small business online. Needless to say my carpets get dirty, either from the Arizona dust brought in with people or the packing filth that tends to come out of shipping boxes, so I frequently have vacuum my floors... Cons High price

I've had a Dyson DC25 for over two years now and have to say it is one of the easiest vacuums to operate & clean.
The head width is perfect for those narrow spaces & it is reasonably quite.
There is only a push of a button to change from bare floors to any height carpet.
It's movements are... Read full review »

Pros Works well
Moves easily
Cons Expensive
Not good for pet hair

I've had this vacuum for just over a year and have had nothing but a good expierence with it. It is easy to use, and does a great job cleaning. One downsides is that it's not the best for pet hair, but does work alright. The only other negative I can think of is the price of the item. It is a... Read full review »

Pros Maneuverable, good suction, easy to use.
Cons It's pricey.

Cleans very well, has a lot of suction, and the beater can be turned off for use on wood floors. Super light weight plastic, but so robust that I've had no breakages. The cannister fills up much more quickly with this vacuum than with my old Electrolux, which leads me to believe it does a much... Read full review »

I bought this vacuum on black friday, because it was on sale for $318.00 normally $499 or so. I have different floor surfaces in my house, mostly hardwood and ceramic tile. I also have a couple of area rugs, so an all floors bagless upright vacuum sounded very appealing. I have an indoor... Read full review »

Pros It picks up well is all I can say in its favor.
Cons It is the sorriest vacuum I have ever bought!

Can't get under furniture. The hose is only about 3 feet long. With the brush engages it clatters like it is fallling apart. The canister is too small. There is no way to attach the purple furniture attachment I bought extra so it is useless. I absolutely hate this... Read full review »

Pros Very strong suction, tools are easy to use.
Cons Expensive; more than you wanted to spend.

I've had many vacuums over the years and none comes close to this one. I've had my Dyson DC-25 for about a year now and it has been great. It cleans very well; the suction is amazing. The way the tool hose / wand pops out and back in is a stroke of genius. It's easy to empty the bin; one button to... Read full review »

Pros Powerful suction, extremely maneuvarable, very compact, bagless (environmentally...
Cons The lock/unlock mechanism for removing the brush can get stripped over time.

I've always been a fan of great product design but never expected to be praising the engineering of a vacuum cleaner. While the "never loses suction" was a powerful selling point, the demonstration of the maneuverabilty is what really caught my attention. This vacuum could turn on a dime which is... The Dyson DC25 doesn't measure up to the Dyson DC07.

Pros button for brushbar, the "ball" (maybe)
Cons expensive, power cord is too short, wand is difficult to use

I bought a Dyson DC07 Animal Vacuum about seven years ago when we bought our house. My husband thought I was insane to spend $400 on a vacuum, but I absolutely loved the thing and never regretted the purchase for a minute. With about 200 foster cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies... Pros Lightweight, powerful, easy to maneuver, and the telescopic wand. Good warranty.
Cons Expensive. Made of breakable plastic. Few onboard tools.

Back in 2006, I purchased a refurbished Dyson DC14 from Amazon.com. At the time, I was really eager to own one of these new fangled machines, but I was too poor and too cheap to pay full price. I used that Dyson for about a year and then had to throw it away because we moved...
