one of the best ever
i have to say i still think this is one of the best games ever made. it invented fps, blood and guts games, probably started the anti video game tree hugger groups, and made its way into the hearts of millions. if it wasnt for the graphics and sounds being outdated i bet this would still be at the... A true classic (like me!)
Sorry to all who reviewed and referred to Doom as the game that "started it all," etc. Doom had MANY predecessors, the most significant of which was "Wolfenstein 3D," released by the same folks some 3-1/2 years earlier (1991). My sincere regrets go out to those of you who missed the TRUE... Read full review »
DOOMed to the nostalgia aisle
DOOM is a classic game. It belongs right up there with Pong, Space Invaders, Pac-Man and Super Mario Bros. - granted, it popularized a much more violent genre, but it was indeed just as revolutionary and important in the history of video games as any other.
DOOM wasn't the first '3D'...

Sigh - the old times...
DOOM - the name says it all - it was one of the first "real" FPS, being the successor of Wolfenstein 3D it was superior in gameplay and graphics.
When DOOM first came out, most people were shocked by the enormous graphic violence(nowadays people play Requiem, that has thrice as much...

Still DOOMed After All These Years
This was the game that destroyed my life. Literally.
The day I started playing this exercise in cauterizing my cerebellum and feeding the beast within was the day I got so hopelessly addicted to something that I think is somehow worse than crack. Playing this game resulted in long,...

DOOM IS THE BEST
First there came Doom in 1993, then Doom II one year later.
Then after wards Ultimate Doom, and finally Final Doom. Though this game may look outdated, it was the grandfather of all shoot'em ups. This game still rocks today and will continue to do in the future.
In the game itself,...

Back in the day..........
Yes, this one started it all back in 1993-94. The first FPS game ever produced, it put an impact on society today. In lots of good ways, and some bad (the influence on the Columbine shooting). My hat goes off to this great game, that keeps you on your toes the whole time. Lacking an enormous array... Read full review »
Doom - Horrible but Great Father of All Games
This is, I think, the SECOND FPS (first-person-shooter) game I ever played. This is the game that came after Wolfenstein in an attempt to make it better in every way, but failed in many ways. The game was supposed to have better graphics, but they only increased a little. They had a slight 3D... Read full review »
One Of The Old Gaming Legends
What It Is:
Doom is a MS DOS, 3D, first person shooter. In it, you fight lots of monsters and demons with 6 weapons, through a whole lot of levels. There is actually 4 different Doom games in the one; each just the same, but with different levels and storylines.

The Father of 3D Shooters
The mutated offspring of the original Wolfenstein 3D, Doom takes you on a journey through multiple levels of what could only be described as Hell.
It's very simple. You are the last surviving member of a space marine team sent to check out a distress call. All the others got their butts...

Its old but its still the best
Writing an opinion about such a game may be a bit of a mute point. Afterall is there anyone, young or old, that hasn't heard of Doom at some point it their life. For years Doom and its subsequent spin offs have captivated audiences of thousands if not millions of gamers around the world. With its... Read full review »
Fun Game!
This game is unique and fun. You go from room to room, and fight evil ghoulish looking creatures. It's a blast to just sit at your computer, and feel like you are on top the world saving it! It not expensive at all either. Very easy to download it to your C: drive so you dont have to pop in the... Read full review »
Hail to the King
How do you write a review of a game that changed the face of gaming? A game that launched a thousand other games and made way for some of the best games ever?
You storm in both guns blazing! That's how.
For anyone who doesn't have a clue, Doom may have not been the first first...

The game that started it all
This game was the one that started everything! It was the best thing anywhere at it's time, and even today practically everyone has played it at some time or another. It is the kind of game you can play again and again and never get bored of it. You can also get/make your own levels for it (there... Read full review »
The one, the only, the classic...
Even in these days of true-3D, polygon-filled, photo-realistic First Person Shooters, Doom still stands out as one of the best games in the genre.
Doom was the second major "First Person Shooter" (FPS) from now-famous id Software. It was the successor to their popular FPS, Wolfenstein 3D...

Stressy fun
First game I became addicted to. It feels so good to kill all those guys and feel the stress running through your body. Go through a door and start firing in anger.
It's hard to keep a clear head sometimes, as from time to time you enter a place and you are surrounded by all those...

The First The Best
I have been playing this game since 1996, and I never get tired of it. It is one of the first first person shooters that I bought (ok, the second, Wolfenstien3D was the first). I have played, and enjoyed, many games since, but I always find myself loading this game up again and playing it about... Read full review »
I had to stop playing, it is so scary!
I started playing DOOM back when I still had Windows 3.1 and haven't gotten tired of it yet. It took me over year to reach the top playing level; and so far, I have only won twice.
This game has multiple playing levels and really challenges my ability to think my way out of various...
