Cons bigger battery sticks out. annoying when it wont wake up requiring restart.

I love gadgets.
I got mine almost two years ago, there'd been minor annoyances but all in all it's a fun machine.
It's got a nice bright clear picture on the screen. I've used drawing programs on it and drew some neat pics. I mostly use it to get on the internet when I'm on the road in my... Read full review »

I bought one from Dell.com 2 yrs ago and it never did connect to the Internet after numerous calls to support. THEN I was told I had the wrong pocket pc, I needed the NEW one with the BUILT IN wireless card. I bit, then packed the old one to my daughter who uses it as a glorified MP3 player. I have... Had my Axim X51v for about 2 years now. Even though I purchased the Wi-Fi Companion software I have not been able to get the Wi-Fi to work. The DELL Customer Support people are lacking the most basic knowledge about the Axim.
I have encountered too many other problems to mention here, many of... Read full review »

Dell Axim 51V Too Expensive and Limited

Pros Great graphics, Word and Excel nice to have
Cons No synching, no internet, weak battery, no updating
Recommended it? No

"The Bottom Line"
The Dell Axim 51V is a very expensive handheld PC with more limitations than a cheap insurance policy. Unless you have a new computer with all of the recent updates installed and you never plan to use it outside of your own home then avoid this device.

My grandfather is up on all the new technology and purchased a dell axim for me this past summer, for school in the fall. Being a student it was really helpful for me to use. It helped me organize my schedule, and remind me of things I had to do, and places I had to be.

I have owned a Dell Axim x51 for eighteen months. Overall, it has worked OK. This is the second unit I have had, as the first was returned to Dell and replaced with this unit.

Cons The stylus is wooden, I couldn't get Java to work and some downloads didn't work

I was unsure if I should buy a Dell or go with a different brand. So far I am glad I went with the Dell.

If you have ever tried using the internet on a phone this will be a big upgrade for you. The screen doesn't look all that big but compared to a phone it is much bigger.

I bought the x51v from Sam's Club in January, 2006 to replace an iPaq. I received an extra battery and a 3 year service agreement with the purchase. I love the storage capability of the unit. I use it to hold "my life" and also for audio books I download from my local library. Six weeks ago I spent... Read full review »

Wow, I was suckered into getting this pda. I bought this fancy new Axim X51V from my favorite computer company DELL. Too sum up the performance- it is unreliable. I run 3 companies and use a pda religiously. The Axim has a lot of bugs, low battery life, and basically can't be counted on for... Read full review »

Pros A lot of mobile computing power and features for the price.
Cons Location of the wireless activation button.

I purchased the X51 520 a couple of months ago, as my first hand held, and have yet to be disappointed. The Windows Mobile system is very easy to learn to use, as are the features of this unit. It packs plenty of mobile power to operate lots of programs, and, with it's easily expandable memory,... Read full review »

I used the Palm Tungsten E for a long time and never had a problem with it. My company gave me Dell Axim X51. There was a major difference in performance (cant compare the two esp. since the Tungsten is 2-3 years older & different OSs). When my wife got a X51v, it was a... Read full review »
