Pros Inexpensive initial investment, fast, good printouts for office use
Cons Ugly photos, mail-order inks, buggy bloatware drivers (can't share very well)
Recommended it? No

One of our departments has a Dell A940 AIO printer. I can only guess that AIO means "all-in-one", as this is a color scanner, printer, and copier. The USB is the only method of connection and it has no faxing capability.

I bought a Dell a940 Printer along with a Dell Dimension Desktop Computer approximately a year ago. The Printer cost me 110 dollars in addition to what I paid for the Computer. My 110 dollars was well spent, as I have been very satisfied with this printer.

First off, This Printer is... Read full review »

I must have been one of the unlucky Dell customers when it came to purchasing this A940 system with my Dell computer system. I have had nothing but problems with it from the start and have had absolutely no support from Dell, except until today.

It all began the very first day I began to... Read full review »

Not knowing much about these all-in-one printer/scanner/copiers, I purchased the printer bundle from Dell with my latest computer. It came with the Dell A940 printer, a package a printer paper, extra black and color ink cartridges, and a USB cable. A pretty nice combination for the $210 ($260 for... Read full review »

Pros Low cost, easy to use and setup, good for general use.
Cons Vista issues, expensive ink costs $70 for one black and one color.

We have had this printer for almost five years now. We bought it for its ability to fax, print, and copy. It is a good machine, but it does have a few drawbacks. Let me start there since for general use of its functions it does everything fairly well.

The scanning quality could be better... Read full review »

Cons Heavy, bulky, and loud!

My dad brought this printer a few months ago when Dell was having a special price on it. We had been looking for an all in one printer for a long time. My dad has always been a big fan of Dell products. He also gets a discount on them, so that is why he decided to go for it.

This printer... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use. Prints, Scans and copies fast. On screen ink indicator. Looks good too.
Cons Display is in black and is kind of hard to read sometimes. No big deal.

The reason I chose this printer is because I have a Dell computer although I did look at other brands similar to this and decided it was still a good deal. I like the fact that it scans, prints and copies.

I've had it about 5 months now and I love it. It has worked perfectly straight from... Read full review »

DO NOT BUY ANY DELL PRINTER

byrcaminos Aug 30, 2005

Pros Great print quality, great scanner results, driver software tells you when you need new...
Cons Can only buy ink from Dell. Universal refills are not compatible. Ink dries out.
Recommended it? No

Not to sound like I hate this printer, it's that I hate the ink cartridges. The Dell A940 All in One is an excellent printer and scanner. The print speed and quality is very good which makes sense considering that it is a Lexmark printer with the Dell logo stamped on it. Unlike the Lexmark printer... Read full review »

Printer Ink Refill Kit for Dell's Cheap Business practices

bycdayries Nov 16, 2003
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros The printer / scanner is functional.
Cons Printer ink cost
Recommended it? No

The A940 printer works. But, it is a cheap business practice on the part of Dell to make someone have to buy their printer ink solely through Dell's website at a ridiculously high cost ($56 for two small black ink refills). If you're in the middle of a printing project and run out of ink, you have... Read full review »
