Tired of our big and bulky CRT monitor, which takes up way too much desk space, we decided it was time to start looking for a Flat Panel monitor. We started looking at all the different monitors out there and there was one I was very impressed with, but it was way too expensive. After looking a... Read full review »

Just before Christmas, I was in the market for a new computer and decided to buy a Dell. When I went to their website (www.dell.com) to check out my options, I found that they were running a competition called Dellf. Each day, you could click on the Dellf for a chance at a... Read full review »

I'm a web designer and I use 2 monitors hooked to my machine -- currently a Dell 1703FP and the Dell 1704FPV. Both are excellent flat panels with no dead pixels and no "bright spots". They are essentially the same monitor with very subtle improvements in the 1704FPV.

I've been wanting a flat panel monitor for quite awhile, the prices are just now getting down to where I feel they're worth the extra money over a traditional tube monitor. Flat panels have three attractive features over tube style monitors, size/weight, digital display, and some have the... Read full review »

Pros Price, resolution, brightness, viewable area.
Cons I found it for cheaper right after I bought it!

This review is for the Dell Ultrasharp 1704FPV 17 in. Not to be confused with the other Dell flat panel model E173FP. One huge difference is the resolution. Compare the Ultrasharp at 1000:1 to the latter at 450:1. This monitor simply looks great. I bought it after my Viewsonic N1700w which I paid... Read full review »

Overview
The job of a computer monitor is quite simple, provide a picture. And like the vast majority of modern monitors the Dell 1704FPT does this, it is an adequate monitor. But since there is a lack of horrible monitors, it is important that a monitor do more than just display a picture. So... Read full review »

Originally, I had intended to use my four-year-old NEC MultiSync FE700+ monitor as part of the new Dell 4700 system I ordered last June. It looked fine and it still seemed so new, though its bulk crowded my small computer desk. But I told myself "Four years in the computer world is pretty old,... Read full review »

I am an amateur photographer and therefore use Photoshop for share of my time. With the introduction of 8 megapixel camera in my gear I readily recognized how important it is to have a larger monitor since I was using a 14inch laptop for my work. I researched and learned the basics of LCD monitors... Read full review »

Well, I recently upgraded my PC to a Dell 8400. I almost talked myself into keeping my 7 year old 17 inch CRT monitor to use with this new system. About 2 days after I purchased my new PC, I ran across an online Dell coupon that knocked the price of this 1704FPV to $244 + free shipping. I could not... Read full review »

Pros DVI and analog. Great picture. Highly adjustable stand. Built-in usb hub.
Cons I tried but I really couldn't think of any.

We use these as well as the standard analog panels in our offices. Although I don't know why we have Ultrasharps since none of our machines are capable of DVI output. Well anyway, the picture looks great even with the analog cable. Viewing angles are nice and wide. I don't see any of the shadowing... Read full review »
