DOA: Dead or Alive

Based on a popular series of video games, DOA: DEAD OR ALIVE is set on an exotic island where a group of extraordinary men and women face off against each other in a single-elimination fighting competition for a $10 million winner-take-all prize. The film focuses on three main competitors: Tina Armstrong (Jaime Pressly), a professional wrestler who wants to prove to herself, and the world, that she's not a fake; Princess Kasumi (Devon Aoki), who has gone against the laws of her kingdom by escaping on her own in order to search for her missing brother (Collin Chou), a former DOA participant; and Christie (Holly Valance), who, along with the mysterious Max (Matthew Marsden), is more interested in the $100 million locked away in a hidden vault than in the fighting prize. Pros Holly Valance, Jaime Pressly, certain scenes are humorous
Cons Another typical game-based movie, bad script

Directed by Corey Yuen, D.O.A: Dead or Alive is a movie adapted from the video game series "Dead or Alive", which is a fighting game similar to Street Fighters, Virtua Fighters, Mortal Kombat, etc. but we're talking about hot chicks kicking butts here. This is a total female-dominant movie.

Several contestants have been chosen to fight in the DOA. tournament, hosted by megalomanical billionaire doctor Victor Donovan (Eric Roberts). Four of them include ninja princess Kasumi (Devon Aoki), pro wrestler Tina Armstrong (Jamie Pressly), master thief Christie Allen (Holly Valance), and... Read full review »
