I have had the DCR-HC42 MiniDV Handycam by Sony for only a few months now, but so far I am very impressed. Sony jam packs ease of use and functionality into a tiny package! Coming over from a Cannon ELURA40, that I had many problems with, I'm glad I made the change.

My Sony DCR HC42 is junk after just 2 years
this broke after just 2 years and 20 hours of recording. sony want 75% the cost of buying it new to replace. This is my last sony.
I have only owned this camcorder for 1 week and this review is only based on the features I have used so far. I also own a 5 year old Sony V8 camcorder...

Beware
I have purchased 2 of these in the last 36 months and both are dead now. After 15 to 18 months, the LCD display has quit displaying and there is nothing Sony will do about it. We thought the first one was lemon, so we purchased another one and now the second one just died with the exact same... Read full review »
