I will neither purchase nor recommend another Black & Decker product

byreviewww Aug 27, 2010
1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros It came to temperature quickly and was easy to use the first time.
Cons It was worthless after its first use. Read my review for details.
Recommended it? No

Although I rarely have use for an iron, I wanted one of good quality that made the chore easier. Because the B & D D2030 was highly rated by Consumer Reports for both performance and value, I purchased one.

Unfortunately, Consumer Reports only offers reliability ratings for consumer... Read full review »

Problems with shutting off too fast

bywsrhodes Aug 16, 2010
12 Helpfuls 13 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros OK: it irons stuff nicely.
Cons Auto-shut-off makes it a pain to use.
Recommended it? No

The manual says that “When the iron is idle for 10 minutes…..[it] will turn off.” I can tell that there is a motion sensor in the iron that regulates this feature. However, it does not work as advertised. It will often turn off within seconds or a minute or two of when I use it... Read full review »

Very nice iron for the price, but keep track of your warrantee jut in case!

bypsychotap Jul 24, 2010

Pros Heated quickly, good weight, nicely balanced, good display, auto-shutoff, swivel cord,...
Cons Short lifespan seems to be a problem.
Recommended it? Yes

Because I liked the Black & Decker D2030 so well while it worked I would probably recommend it to a friend, but only with the warning that it might not last long. I had used this iron very little when my husband noticed that the power indicator light had changed its blinking pattern. I... Read full review »

It's good enough for a college student

byarsron Nov 30, 2009
Helpful? 1 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?

I bought this for college.  I use this to iron my shirt and pant before I go for the presentation. The price wasn't expensive. However, one thing to notice is that it take longer time than other normal iron to turn the water hot!   Read full review »

Terrible Iron

bypsych_man282 Jul 8, 2009
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good Steam
Cons Nothing worked properly or for very long
Recommended it? No

The non-stick surface wore off in the first month and soon started building up black gunk.  This gunk would accumulate until one day it would come off on my clothes; forever ruining them.  After about two months of use the digital settings started going haywire so that it would constantly jump from... If you hate ironing, buy this iron!

bypunkinpie811 May 13, 2009

Pros Steam is great and ironing time is short.  Iron glides on fabric.
Cons Poor location of steam dial.  It's easy to lower unintentionally.
Recommended it? Yes

I have had the pleasure of being the proud owner of the B&D D2030 iron for a few months now and I cannot be more pleased with its performance.

My former iron, also a Black and Decker, was failing after 12 years of hard work.  It was time for an upgrade and I considered a more expensive... Read full review »

good for only 1 year

byklaporte May 13, 2009

Pros performs well while it lasts
Cons who wants a one year iron?
Recommended it? No

i bought this iron last year because it was highly recommended for performance, although more than one opinion said that it breaks down in a very short period of time for an iron.  indeed, i only got one year of use out of it.  i will never buy a black and decker product again. Read full review »

It makes other irons look like they're toys!

Pros Digital settings, burst steam and burst spray at every temp, fast heatup
Cons On the heavy side
Recommended it? Yes

I can't believe I waited so long to buy a new iron!  I was using a wedding present from 37 years ago and it just didn't seem to get hot enough. After reading the reviews on irons in Consumers Reports, this one was a clear top performer.  My only reservation was that the Black & Decker Digital... Read full review »

Black & Decker D2030 Digital Advantage Iron with Auto Shut-Off

byhvarmit Mar 26, 2009
28 Helpfuls 29 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros mini lcd display, lots of steam, heats up fast
Cons I don't like the cord, only 1 yr warranty
Recommended it? Yes

I've always hated ironing because I've always hated my irons. I've always bought the cheapest models because I never really used them much, not unless I was heading to town and wanted my clothes free of wrinkles. They would tear up eventually and if I couldn't repair them, I would trek back in... Read full review »

Digital Disaster

bywtreadaway Dec 6, 2008
14 Helpfuls 15 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Heats up fast and it's heavy, so you don't have to press so hard.
Cons Didn't last six months with minimal use and ordinary care.
Recommended it? No

I'd never had other than a lower-end or base model Proctor Silex or G.E. steam iron--none of which gave any cause for complaint except that some wrinkles took a lot of work to iron out--but one day I just decided to "treat" myself to what I thought would be a step up in the steam iron world. I did... As Good As It Gets.

byxarchy Nov 2, 2008
22 Helpfuls 23 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Heats Fast, slides smoothly, precise temp control, creases with own weight.
Cons a tad costly, but worth it.
Recommended it? Yes

I had very specific needs when it came time to find an iron to replace the useless lightweight model that mercifully died.
I sew and quilt, and needed an iron for pressing seams open, as well as general ironing.
Teflon coated irons are garbage gimmicks; I needed a metal soleplate that can... Read full review »

Fine if you only expect 2 years use out of it!

Pros works good for a while
Cons For us, JUNK. AND, poor customer support.
Recommended it? No

I bought this Iron based on a review from Consumer Reports. It was a great Iron that we used for less than 2 years (not heavy use either, probably less than average, maybe for an hour or two every few weeks). A few days ago it quit working. First the LED screen showed crazy symbols and the element... Read full review »

Year and a half fizzle

bycaveatme Jul 31, 2008
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros It worked fine while it worked.
Cons Steam no longer functioning after year and half of light use.
Recommended it? No

This iron worked fine for the first year or so. The steam dial progressively became harder to maneuver and now has a completely non-functioning steam dial, one and half years after purchase with light use. Of course, since it is past the one year warranty, the company offered me nothing but, "I'm... Read full review »

Best iron I've ever owned

bymogll Apr 20, 2008
1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Excellent steam, light wt, digital read
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes

For several years we used a $100 Rowenta and thought "it's got to be the best because it's a Rowenta." Wrong! The steaming was weak and it leaked resulting in off-white/yellowish stains. My wife is notorious for leaving clothes waded up in the basket so me dress shirts have been a real challenge;... Read full review »

Best iron I've had

bysfiore Apr 17, 2008
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great steam.
Cons Turns off too soon.
Recommended it? Yes

I'm a quilter and my irons get a lot of heavy use. This is the best iron I've had yet. In fact I bought a second one because generally as soon as I find a really good product, the manufacturer stops making it. I've had this iron a year and it continues to work well, though seems to need cleaning... Read full review »

Black and Decker D2030 is FUN - really no kidding!

byfun30013 Mar 19, 2008

Pros Long cord, steam and more steam and most of all no guessing on temperature!
Cons Heavy when tank is full of water.
Recommended it? Yes

Okay, let's face it, ironing is not a fun chore by any stretch of our imagination, but when you throw in a little technology and a great tool; well it is not all that bad. The Black and Decker D2030 has added a little F-U-N to this boring and mundane chore.

I iron every week as a crisp... Read full review »

Love Black and Decker

I bought this iron after my top of the line Rowenta iron kept leaking and spitting on my ironing. Three years of light use won't cut it

bysalley Nov 13, 2007

Pros Great steam supply and steam volume control. Excellent ergonomic plastic fill vessel.
Cons Three years of light use is totally unacceptable. :-(
Recommended it? No

This was a great iron while it lasted, three years. Its best features were the excellent steam supply and volume control. They made it easy to iron out wrinkles. Ironing went fast and was less of a burden. Clothes looked better in less time and with less effort. The little ergonomic plastic fill... Read full review »
