Good while it lasted

bysoybaja21 Feb 13, 2007

Pros small easy to transport
Cons bad lens bad screen
Recommended it? No

Same as some of the previous reviews, the lens went wacky after a few months of moderate use (and it was in a case otherwise, never dropped, etc) so pictures tended to start turning out blurry, then the screen went completely white. Takes pictures decent enough now ... but I can't adjust settings,... Read full review »

Good things DO come in little packages

Pros Small size, good basic camera, fairly easy to use, uses AA batteries
Cons Tiny controls and LCD screen, doesn't come with rechargeable batteries
Recommended it? Yes

Rather than list a lot of generic facts and statistics about this camera, I thought I would focus my review on my personal observations of this camera.

To put this review in perspective, I consider myself to be a decent photographer, but mostly of the "point and shoot" variety -- family,... Read full review »

White Screen?

Pros Easy to use.
Cons Little quirks here and there.
Recommended it? No

My Father-in Law asked me to try to find out what is wrong with his camera. After you turn it on, within seconds, the LCD Screen turns white. I have read all the reviews, and still have no answer. He called Sony, the guy told him to restart/reset the camera, we did that. For a couple of uses it was... Read full review »

Sony Cyber Shot 4.1 MP, Good Price for a Good Camera

bychris489 Apr 10, 2007

Pros Small, good pictures with the right techniques
Cons Had some problems with action shots
Recommended it? Yes

This camera is a relatively good buy for an everyday user. Got this as a Christmas gift and use it quite frequently. At first I wasn't so sure about the quality of pictures, however with some practice and some picture taking techniques this changed. I would recommend it for someone looking for an... What a waste of money

Pros Small, easy to point and shoot.
Cons Heavy, not a good bargain.
Recommended it? No

I paid $270 for this, my first digital camera in July of 2005. In August of 2006 it began to have a white screen. After hitting it really hard it would go back to its normal screen. In December it began to present funny colors on the screen and take pictures with halos around things that shouldn't... Read full review »

Sony Cyber-Sh*t

Pros Small size, takes AA batteries... that's about it
Cons Faulty display, focus button, flash, red-eye, only takes good pics and videos in daylight
Recommended it? No

I received this camera as a gift. It was my first experience with a digital camera. The menu was a little hard to navigate. The red-eye reducer doesn't seem to work very well. And the flash goes off a couple of seconds before the picture is taken, then the flash goes again. This is a very... Read full review »

Pros No delay between shots, - better indoor shots than other cameras
Cons humm...memory stick, but not that biga deal
Recommended it? Yes

I'm a maniac at comparison shopping. I ready a gazillion reviews on digital zoom cameras under $200. I 'narrowed' my choices to Sony, Canon, Kodak, Nikon, Fuji, & Minolta!
Most of these brands had two models in this price range that zoomed.

On paper (or e-reviews), I liked the Kodak... Read full review »

I have had my camera for almost a year now and love it just as much as I did the first day! I bought it to send pictures to my husband in Iraq and it's been great! It's so easy to use and takes GREAT pictures. I love the ease of changing everything. It's great for emailing pictures to family and... Read full review »

Not too great

Pros Cheap
Cons Flakey operation, poor lens.
Recommended it? No

I bought an S40 for my wife. The first problem we had was the camera would not always turn on and sometimes not turn off. Sometimes it turned off and left the lens uncapped. We tried new batteries and it didn't help.

Then I noticed it had a tendancy to flare badly. I have a Sony DSC-W7... Read full review »

Photography Lite

byplymyphil Nov 22, 2005
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros Weight - ease of use - price
Cons Slightly restricting for the photographer who wants control
Recommended it? Yes

The first aspect to attract me to a digital camera is usually the price. WIth this in mind, this Sony fares well - the price of under $200 is now easy to beat both online and in high street stores.
Second though for digital cameras I look for a trusted name. Some might argue that this... Read full review »
