Good while it lasted
Same as some of the previous reviews, the lens went wacky after a few months of moderate use (and it was in a case otherwise, never dropped, etc) so pictures tended to start turning out blurry, then the screen went completely white. White Screen?

What a waste of money
I paid $270 for this, my first digital camera in July of 2005. In August of 2006 it began to have a white screen. After hitting it really hard it would go back to its normal screen. Not too great
I bought an S40 for my wife. The first problem we had was the camera would not always turn on and sometimes not turn off. Sometimes it turned off and left the lens uncapped. We tried new batteries and it didn't help.
