Good idea, but just doesn't perform
I've owned the Duet for nearly 10 years. Perhaps they've made improvements, but I would NOT buy it again.
The real draw for this item is the 2-in-1 capability. It's good for small spaces. But if you ever plan to use it much, you'll become quickly and easily frustrated.

We purchased this blender to make fruit smoothies for our kids. The smoothies consisted of frozen strawberries, frozen peaches, cranberry juice, protein powder and fresh bananas. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
The food processor does not work! I've set it on the base, pressed the ON button and then pressed the Chop button and nothing but loud noise happens and the blade doesn't move...WTF? Am I doing this wrong because I'm sort of in shock that it's doesn't work...I've never used it before.

Great Blender Noisy Processor
I am still using the blender which is great. Unfortunately, the food processor was beyond noisy with a ear numbing pitch. So I now only use the blender portion and am having to buy a food processor which I was trying to avoid in the first place.

Careful
The whole machine is very loud, blender attachment works like a charm. Now for the food processor: less than 6 months after purchase and very light usage the food processor attachment stopped working, stripped a gear in the housing. I got this as a gift about 4 years ago - so it's out of warranty. I rarely used it but when I did, it did the job.
