Great toaster with a few forgivable flaws.

Late last year, all of our small electric appliances just finally seemed to wear out at the same time. Of all the things I hate trying to buy, a toaster oven is it. Shopping for toaster ovens is very difficult.

Not a safe toaster
I picked this for it's middle-of-the-road price & features, thinking Cuisinart was a quality product. The FIRST time I turned it on the "open" button broke off, and the "start/cancel" button stuck on. Junk plastic on THE main function buttons. Also, a HUGE issue was the scalding heat on almost... Updated review: THIS IS AN UNSAFE TOASTER
For the first two weeks I saw no issue with it.
8 months later, it is scaldingly hot when on -- frighteningly hot! And twice, the shut off mechanism failed, once time filling the house with smoke and the second time, actually catching fire....it burned the toast to the point that it flashed...
