Too Many Drawbacks

byDavidGagne Dec 16, 2013

Pros - looks beautiful on the counter
Cons There are multiple cons, so they're listed in the main review.
Recommended it? No

My wife bought this coffee maker about a week ago to replace a Krups model we'd had for years. It looks beautiful and we were excited to (finally) have a machine with a built-in grinder. She chose this model because we know two other people with the same one. It was one of the more expensive models... Read full review »

Expensive Fire Hazard

Pros Pretty, shiny, feels solid, makes acceptable coffee
Cons Fire hazard, poorly designed, requires a great deal of maintenance, clocks and timers...

I think it safe to say the "grind & brew" concept as executed by Cuisinart is a spectacular failure. I purchased one of these for my boyfriend. We are both serious coffee drinkers and this machine was purchased for his home where we both stay a majority of the time. I truly thought I was getting... Read full review »

Pros Makes great coffee, when it works.
Cons Not working correctly after a year.  No support.
Recommended it? No

I've had this coffee maker for a year and it quit working correctly.  Motor keeps spinning top of filter basket, even if "grind off" is selected.  I've emailed customer support and marketing twice over the past several months and have NO RESPONSE. Read full review »

The best coffee machine with one caveat...

Pros Durable, Stays Hot, Rich Features
Cons Difficult to Clean
Recommended it? Yes

I have tried other coffee pots, expensive and otherwise, and this one is my favorite.  It delivers a consistently delicious cup of coffee day after day.  My only complaint, and it is a big one, is that this machine is a BEAR to clean!  And you have to clean it after each use! ... My husband bought this for us as our stainless carafe model did not keep coffee warm long enough - I'm an early riser and he's not.  Thought that this might be the perfect solutions.  Got it out on Christmas day and had very high hopes.
It was confusing to use - actually had to read... Read full review »

I wrote a lengthy review of this coffee maker when I first got it over two years ago, but I lost it before it was submitted.  It was an absolutely GLOWING review, and after two years of use, my opinion of it is HIGHER YET!!  I thought I better share my experience so others who have searched high... First the good. I love a good cup of coffee in the morning. There is really nothing better than the smell and taste of freshly ground coffee beans. The Cuisinart Grind & Brew DGB-700 delivers just that and more! I'm fortunate enough to work out of my house. The work day starts at 6:30 am. The... Read full review »

Pros Bean hopper<br>grind control
Cons The burr grinder jammed and died after a week.

I loved this coffee pot for about a week, and then the grinder failed completely. I have owned several of the DGB-500 models and I have never had a grinder fail in one of them so I was shocked when the grinder in this one stopped working after only a week, especially since it was Burr grinder, and... This coffee maker has been a huge disappointment for us. I purchased it as a Christmas present December 27, 2007. We have had constant and consistent problems.
