Delicious Coffee, but a PAIN to Clean!

bydelgaudm Sep 25, 2003

Pros Coffee tastes great, grinds great.
Cons A real pain to clean. The button labels wear off after a while.
Recommended it? Yes

So, the good news is that the Cuisinart Automatic Grind and Brew makes GREAT coffee. It grinds the beans in an instant before brewing, and there are numerous settings on the machine, so that you can adjust the strength and temperature of the coffee, ensuring that it will be exactly to your liking... I LOVE this coffee maker!

Pros Grinds beans AND brews with a timer, and Cusinart customer service is GREAT.
Cons Flavor selector feature makes weak coffee, somewhat hard to clean.
Recommended it? Yes

OK, so it's not that big a deal to have to grind the coffee beans yourself, but this one does it FOR you on a timer! So instead of having to grind the beans the night before and letting the ground coffee sit out all night so the coffee will be ready when you get up, this keeps the beans whole and... Finally found the right one

Pros Cleaning alert, mistake alert, cycle complete alert. Style
Cons Cleaning
Recommended it? Yes

After going through two other coffee makers I've finally found the one that's a keeper. Everything is well designed and the result is a consistently good cup of coffee every time. I don't find the grinder to be any quieter nor louder than the other two I tried (if you live in an apartment or small... Read full review »

Wake up to fabulous coffee!

Pros Easy to program and use. Less work for freshly ground & brewed coffee.
Cons Nothing I would complain about.
Recommended it? Yes

I only made fresh ground coffee on special occasions due to the hassle of using the separate grinder, figuring out how much to grind, and then transferring the grounds to an automatic drip coffee maker. The grinder parts then had to be washed along with the coffee machine filter and carafe.

Pros Fresh ground coffee, large capacity and good quality construction.
Cons Poor design, large footprint, hard to clean, noisy, inefficient, weak coffee.
Recommended it? No

I love my sister dearly for she is very thoughtful and giving. Therefore I continue to try and improve this particular gift which I treasure. But if I had bought this coffee maker myself I would have taken it back.

This is a beast of a machine. It's beauty is the idea that you can make... Read full review »

Wake up and smell the fresh-ground coffee!

Pros Great coffee, timer, grinder, hot brewing temperature
Cons Difficult to clean
Recommended it? Yes

The big plus on this machine, if you use it, is the timer. You can set the timer so you can wake up to fresh ground coffee in the morning. (Yes, the grinder is loud, and it will wake you up--another plus--but what coffee grinder isn't loud?) There are other coffee machines with timers, but they... Read full review »

Pros ease of use, great cup of joe
Cons very messy innards, cleanup
Recommended it? Yes

If you are like me, you are lazy. Dead lazy. Yet when it comes to coffee I take things very seriously. For a long time I have been using a bean grinder and a french press. One unfortunate day, I dropped my 3rd french press in about 6 months. I decided it was time to go out and buy a... Read full review »

Poor engineering

Pros Makes nice coffee
Cons Difficult to clean, difficult to use, large, small cord
Recommended it? No

I'm a coffee fanatic and received this product as a gift from my wife. Unfortunately it's very poorly engineered. Consider the following:

* It consists of a myriad of plastic parts (5-6),
* All those parts get covered in coffee grounds when it grinds, then exposed to humidity when it... Read full review »

Bubble Bubble...Brewing is no trouble!

byAnniWitch Jan 1, 2002

Pros Freshest coffee possible, many programmable features, attractive, large capacity.
Cons Slow brewing time, a virtual nightmare to clean.
Recommended it? Yes

Just be sure to employ some other hapless victim to clean the darn thing after you have reaped the benefits! But more on that later??

Among lots of other useful thingies AnniWitch got for Xmas this year was this ultra-cool CUISINART Coffee bar machine.

The idea for a new... Read full review »

Pros - Grinds and brews - Real "Mellita Style" filter system - Coffee Bar Flavor...
Cons - More work to clean than if no grinder
Recommended it? Yes

Woot.com had these for $29.95 last week so I bought one. I read and followed the directions carefully. It makes great coffee! Yes, there are several pieces to clean. Yes, you have to dry the grinder before reusing. Yes, this is more work than a machine that does not grind. However, it is less work... Read full review »
