Cuisinart Grinder/Coffeemaker more trouble than it's worth

bylyonjl Feb 21, 2005

Pros Grinds, makes coffee.
Cons Grinds only coarsely, must be cleaned constantly.
Recommended it? No

I finally tired of cleaning the entire machine every third batch of coffee. There are basic design flaws in the piston which opens the coffee drawer and eventually you will wind up with a countertop and floor full of grounds and coffee as I did. It is impossible to prevent old coffee buildup in the... Read full review »

Pros Stylish, couple of good features; the novel lip on the carafe and the adjustable...
Cons Weak coffee, expensive, cumbersome clean-up
Recommended it? No

My husband and I are real coffee lovers. We like strong, aromatic, hot coffee. For several years now we have been grinding our own beans so this pot seemed like the ideal for us. What a mistake!
It makes weak coffee due to the coarse grind of the beans which cannot be adjusted. To compensate... Read full review »

Can't brew a fresher cup than this machine does

byfeliciapaf Dec 20, 2000

Pros Brews the freshest cup of coffee available
Cons The cleaning required between uses
Recommended it? Yes

I'm not a large quantity coffee drinker, but for the one cup I do have in the morning, I want it to be excellent quality. This machine can do that! Since coffee bean grinders for the home went mainstream about 10 years ago, I've always ground my own beans. Unfortunately, if I wanted to have my... Read full review »

Automatic Grind And Brew - Need I Say More?

byAlesaLynn Apr 12, 2000
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros It does everything by itself!
Cons It is a little big and doesn't grind the beans to extra fine.
Recommended it? Yes

I got my Cuisinart Automatic Grind And Brew as a gift - actually, my mother passed it on to me because she was really attached to the old Krups one she's had for sixteen years. Her complaint about the Cuisinart G&B is that the grinder doesn't grind finely enough. I am quick to agree with dear old... Read full review »

High Maintenance & Low Durability

Pros Great tasting coffee
Cons Too much time spent cleaning & DRYING the unit. Unit broke after a year.
Recommended it? No

A great idea but you spend more time cleaning and drying the unit so you can grind & brew the coffee together than you would if you used a separate grinder. Also, my unit broke after a year and a half. I do confess that I have no complaints about the quality of coffee brewed. Read full review »

Pros none
Cons extremely weak and bitter coffee no matter how you make it
Recommended it? Yes

Well, the guilty party is the Cuisinart Coffee Maker. Me and my family bought it for my mother for a Christmas present. It was easy to set up and easy to make it work, but it never brewed a descent cup of coffee.

You're supposed be able to make the coffee one of two ways. 1. You can put... Read full review »

Good Coffee Maker, BAD Customer Service

Pros Features, all-in-one unit
Cons Reliability, Customer Service
Recommended it? No

I really like this coffee maker, but I would recommend that you do NOT buy it. Mine stopped working after a little over a year, it was still under warranty, but not only did I have to pay $10 to ship it back, but you also have to pay Cuisinart $10 for their trouble. They received my coffee maker on... Read full review »

Pros Makes a great cup of coffee
Cons not reliable and hard to clean

I am on my 4th Grind & Brew and now I give up. I bought one in 2000 and the grinder died. Received another for Xmas not realizing that the 1st was under warranty. This one dies 4 months later. Sent back 2 to Cuisinart
( I had to pay for shipping) and received 2 new ones. By October 2001 one of... Read full review »
