My husband and I can go through 2 pots of coffee a day- easily.  As the parents of young twins caffeine plays a large part in our day.  After being gifted a Keurig and hating it we went back to our trusty Cuisenart.  I love the charcoal filter- our coffee tastes great every day. Great every day coffee maker

Pros Easy to Use, Fast Brewing
Cons Lack of Features
Recommended it? Yes

I think cuisinart makes the most wonderful coffee makers.  I am a coffee snob and I am very happy with the morning coffee this machine brews.  And while I personally like the taste of fresh ground coffee, I don't like the mess so this coffee maker is great for me.  I would definitely... Pros Overall coffee maker look is very nice. Great coffee!
Cons Makes clicking noises constantly. Hard to pour the water.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this coffee maker for about $35, mainly to keep me alive during finals week in college (this is my first coffee maker ever). During regular days when I don't have exams to study for, I only drink coffee maybe 4 times a week, so this coffee maker works fine for me. (I have had this coffee... Read full review »

Cons I don't like that the clock is not illuminated.

I really like this coffee maker, i have it in red. This is the first coffee maker i ever bought that really makes HOT coffee, a plus for me! Love the water filter and the auto shut off 0-4 hours, I wish Cuisinart would consider making the clocks on their coffee makers more illuminated,I highly... Read full review »

Messy, grounds and coffee scum build up in water reservoir

byfbgilliam Jul 5, 2007

Pros Nice looking and makes good coffee for the first couple of months. Very hot coffee.
Cons Filter basket/reservoir design creates coffee ground mess inside coffee maker. Gets...

I really wanted a 12-cup thermal w/ stainless carafe but was not willing to pay $130 for the Cuisinart sold at Starbucks without some knowledge of Cuisinart coffee makers. I bought the DCC-1000 at Lowe's on sale for $49. This machine makes good, very hot coffee, and I've had no problem with the... Read full review »

Old age while still young?

byremnat Mar 17, 2007

Pros Good coffee quality; good styling.
Cons Developed a programming mind of it's own, which led to its consignment to the dump.
Recommended it? Yes

This coffee maker was received as a gift several years ago, (the three-year guarantee has expired). Except for the water filling issue noted by others, until recently we had no serious problems with this machine and we have been pleased with the design and availability of a black finish. We have... Great coffeemaker, but with a few niggles.

Pros Tasty brew. Visual appeal. Relative compactness.
Cons Awkward filling process. Irritating drip-stop feature.

A few months back, I decided to buy a new coffee maker to replace the basic $19 GE 12-cup Wally-World unit that had served me dutifully, albeit in a very utilitarian manner. I had a brief encounter with a Farberware FAC400C 10-cup coffee maker (see my review here), but it went back to the store... Read full review »

Wonderful drip machine, excellent value

Pros Fool-proof pouring (good carafe), reliable, consistently great quality coffee
Cons Very minor flaw is that filling must be done carefully.
Recommended it? Yes

This coffee maker is a best-buy for a machine in the price range below $100. The basic facts are that it produces consistently good coffee, the carafe design is excellent, and the machine is very dependable and reliable. I base this assessment on having the machine for over a year, and probably... Read full review »

Very disappointed with this coffeemaker

Pros Sometimes it makes coffee.
Cons Everything else. I have never disliked a coffee maker this much.

I paid 79.99 for the coffee maker at my local Lowe's store (and looking at websites, it appears that I overpaid), and since then, I have had nothing but problems with it.

When I was looking for a coffeemaker, I wanted to get one that was programmable and that had a permanent filter. When... Read full review »

A great coffee maker

Cons The clock is very difficult to see.

When the carafe on our older Braun broke, we decided it was time for a new coffeemaker. I spent time on this site and others reading the reviews. I had made up my mind NOT to buy this coffee maker based upon the 3 reviews here. I was leaning real heavily towards the DCC-1200 or another Braun if I... Read full review »

Styling beats Engineering - bulky, funnel may help fill

byrowittek Dec 28, 2005
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Coffee tasted fine, pouring is dripless, auto-off is nice.
Cons Bulky size messed up my whole feng shui in the kitchen, filling nuisance.
Recommended it? No

Received as a gift. Frustrating. Was this product designed by some "son of a CEO" ? First, its footprint is larger than that of my 9 yr old Krups it may be replacing, but the headroom required is a bigger factor. It will be more difficult to use on the countertop, under shelving units.
It's... Read full review »

Cuisinart! Wake Up & Smell the Coffee!

Pros Sleek, elegant styling. Many features.
Cons Poorly engineered for filling the water reservoir. Brew/Pause feature leaks

My old Mr.Coffee? coffee pot lid was sometimes difficult to remove, which caused it to break one day when I was trying to clean the coffee pot. While this did not interfere with the operation of making coffee, it did provide a wonderful excuse to buy a new coffeemaker!

I like my coffee hot & fast

bylivefire Apr 13, 2004
27 Helpfuls 28 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Hot, fast brewing; water filtering; gold filter basket
Cons Very hard to clean, water level differences,
Recommended it? No

For me, the selling point of this coffee maker was three-fold: It had a water-filter built into it; it used a permanent gold filter; and it was from a company with a good reputation for kitchen appliances. In practice, while the DCC-900 is a competent brewer, some little annoyances make it less... Read full review »

Deceptive, Misleading Carafe Size

bycoffee_drinker Jan 7, 2004
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros None.
Cons Very bulky unit, but small carafe - only holds 9 6-ounce cups.
Recommended it? No

When I unpacked it, I was surprised at how much smaller the carafe was, than our old 12-cup Braun.

It turns out that Cuisinart defines a cup as 4.5 ounces, instead of the normal 6 ounces. So, a the 12-(4.5 ounce)cup carafe is really only a 9-(6 ounce)cup carafe.

Another problem... Read full review »

CuisinartA? DCC-1000 Coffeemaker - Not a Bad Cuppa

bythedragonweyr Jun 5, 2003

Pros Good coffee, large capacity, looks good.
Cons Messy to add water, filter basket slightly too small.
Recommended it? Yes

Here at the Weyr, coffee is considered a morning essential when Bill is home on leave. He really needs that jolt of caffeine in the morning to be able to interact with the rest of us in an acceptable manner.

Consequently, when our Krups coffee maker bought the big one, quite... Read full review »
