Pros Stainless good looks. No switch to break because there is none.
Cons Nothing automatic or time saving features about this product.
Recommended it? No

Purchased the Cuisinart rice maker to replace my Aroma rice maker. I had a gift certificate over the holidays and the store did not carry Aroma brand. I returned it the next day. I know what a rice maker should do after owning a Aroma rice maker which has a delay timer to have... Pros Easy to Use, Durable, Good Value

I have owned a rice cooker since I left for college over 15 years ago. When I got married in 2006, we registered for this rice cooker (to updgrade from my much older one). I love it! I am an avid rice eater and use my rice cooker at least 2 times a week. I love that I put all the ingredients in the... Read full review »

Pros Good looks. Able to be aesthetically integrated into many modern kitchens.
Cons Horrible rice cooker. No More! Read my update to find out why.
Recommended it? No

I gave this rice cooker a 2nd chance and it's not as bad as I first thought. It's making consistent well cooked rice. I had to figure it out to get good results.
Here's some updated TIPS:
- drain washed rice very well.
- add same amount of water as rice.
- leave the rice to swell and... Read full review »

Pros It looks extremely nice.
It is very easy to use and turns off and warms...
Cons It spurts and bubbles all over the unit and your counter.
There is a design flaw.

I LOVE Cuisinart. I have 6 other Cuisinart appliances and love that this one matched. Unless this was just horrible, I would definitely keep it just because of the sleek look and Cuisinart name. I also read others reviews but thought my rice would come out perfectly, how hard could it be? I... Read full review »

Pros It you have stainless steel appliances, this is a perfect match. Beautiful looking unit.
Cons As simple rice is to cook, this unit makes it harder than it should be.
Recommended it? No

I've read the reviews on this page and agree with everyone to a certain extent.

A little history. I've always used the rice cooker with the sealed lid where the condensation would collect on the side. It being sealed, it allowed me to keep the rice warm to extended periods. After a small... Read full review »

Yuck! Cuisinart, what happened??

Pros Initial excitement
Cons Eventual disappointment...and a really bad dinner

I am not impressed. Agree with most comments below - lid hard to clean, rice doesn't come out well. Directions could be so much better. I made a dish tonight TO THE "T" - rice with steamed fish - it was awful. The fish was overcooked even though I took it off 10 minutes early. The brown rice... Read full review »

Cons Can boil over. A little hard to clean the lid and basket.

My wife wanted a rice cooker. We looked at lots of them. We had fun on our days off searching around at Macy's, Chinatown Oakland and Chinatown San Francisco, Long's drugs, and a few other stores. Little did I know that there were so many brands, styles, variations of functions, and price... Read full review »

I never managed to cook rice before. I am from the middle east and rice is a very important part of our food and not being able to cook it was a constant argument with my hubby. Now I truly can cook it with no effort what so ever. All you do is put rice in using the measuring cup and add water to... Read full review »

Pros Design looked nice, rice was OK, cost was acceptable.
Cons Poorly designed lid, poorly designed control panel, faulty thermostat
Recommended it? No

I've used this rice cooker for about a year and half. It's all stainless steel design and how nice it looked next to the other stainless appliances in the newly redone kitchen is what sold me on buying it. I should have done some more research.

Recently, it has begun shutting off... Read full review »

We bought our rice cooker this past week. After purchase we read the reviews on this site and were prepared to take the unit back to the store. Today we tried it for the first time and it performed as we would expect from a Cuisinart product.
We followed the instructions and added a teaspoon... Read full review »

Pros Nice looking box
Cons Dangerous and poor function.
Recommended it? No

This is actually a dangerous product. You can plug it in and no light will come on until a certain time or temp is reached. Imagine spilling or tipping it over and not know the contents are hot! I've scorched rice a half dozen times at all levels. This isn't a well designed product nor one which I... Read full review »

Cons Soggy rice, burns the bottom of the rice, hard to clean, the burnt part sticks

I bought this rice cooker because of it's good looks, thinking it might cook my rice good too. On my first day of using it, my rice was soggy, thought it's my fault so I cook the next day & burnt my rice on the bottom & burnt the unit too. Read full review »

Pros Attractive, compact; retractable cord
Cons Messy; can't be left unattended due to over-boiling

I purchased this product because I have another Cuisinart product, which is the 12-cup coffee maker. The coffee maker is fantastic, so I thought I'd try out their rice cooker. Sad to say, I've since returned it to the store I bought it from. Reason is, it seems to heat up excessively, causing it to... Read full review »

Great brand name - Soggy Rice

bycaro8 Jun 4, 2006
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros looks good
Cons soggy rice, burned rice, too many parts
Recommended it? No

I thought I could rely on the Cuisinart brand name as I have been happy with their products in the past. Unfortunately this rice maker is really poor. It makes rice that is soggy AND burned on the bottom! How do they do that - and why?

The internal middle lid is a hassle to remove.

Not only does this rice cooker make rice, but you can also make oatmeal and steam vegetables with it. I bought this rice cooker on the recommendation of one of my sisters, who uses it almost every day.

I received this rice cooker as a housewarming gift. I had been planning on purchasing a Chinese or Japanese brand of rice cooker (similar to the ones I grew up with), but decided to give this one a try. Overall, I find it to be a decent product.

Pros 3 Year warranty Attractive

I bought this because it was stainless and had a three year warranty. I have other Cuisinart items and am happy with them, so I thought I would take a chance with this item. Past experience does not translate to a good experience with this cooker. The item is attractive and seems durable, but it's... Read full review »

Nice design, but spray first!

bykestrelcb Jun 1, 2005
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Compact, nice design, retractable cord
Cons Boils over if not sprayed
Recommended it? Yes

We bought this rice cooker after many botched attempts at cooking rice in a saucepan on the stove. It is advertised as non-stick, and the cooked rice does not stick to the pot. However, boil-overs occur. So, I spray the pot (even though it's non-stick) with a butter or olive oil cooking spray... Read full review »

Cons Kept boiling over; hard to clean
