When we went to see our doula she asked us how we were planning on carrying our child. We had not thought of that so she recommended a Maya Wrap. One of her friends here in Omaha made them and they were based off an ancient Mayan idea. We thought we would try, support local business and heck if... Read full review »

Pros You will have your hands free. Also very comfortable.
Cons It's not easy reaching around baby, or learning how to use sling properly.
Recommended it? Yes

This sling is great from premature babies through to 35 lb toddlers. I know since I have a 13 month old and a 2 year old and use slings on both of them. It works by evenly distributing baby's weight so no straps dig in to your back. For each stage there is a different position the sling can be used... Read full review »

Immediately after seeing the product online we wanted one! We were a bit leery on spending $ on what looked to be a tablecloth with 2 brass D rings but were PLEASENTLY surprised! The quality is outstanding! Its sewn with a locking stitch and very well though out by the maker and is available in... Read full review »

Cons Takes a little getting used to

Previously I wrote a review for the Evenflo Snugli saying it was the best baby carrier out there. I wrote the review when my first son was just over a year old and at that age we'd stopped using the Evenflo.

I had seen the MayaWrap available for sale during my first son's infancy, but... Read full review »

Cons Around 20 lbs. my back started to hurt.

When I became pregnant, I knew that I wanted a sling. Babies need to be close to their mothers and slings allow you to have your hands free. I compared all the slings I could find on the internet and choose the Maya wrap. Here's why:

1) No padding: I am plus sized and get hot quite... Read full review »

While pregnant with my second child, I knew I wanted something to carry the infant in while chasing around my rambunctious preschooler. I bought the expensive Baby Bjorn front carrier but you can't nurse in it.

Saw all the amazing reviews here and got the Maya. I LOVE it! Have been using... Read full review »

I became a mother in July 2002. My son is very much a "hold me" baby and I knew that a sling and/or front-pack carrier would be in my future. I tried several brands of carrier with my son: Baby Bjorn, Snugli, Over The Shoulder Baby Holder and Maya Wrap.

The good:

I have three little boys. . . all three years apart--I need at least one hand available at all times! The Maya wrap really makes this possible. I own three slings, all of them are different brands. I can with all honesty say that this is not my favorite sling--the fabric is a bit to funky for my... Read full review »

Pros Inexpensive, versatile, colorful, lightweight
Cons Hard to initially get started, not for people with back problems

A friend of mine gave me a Maya Wrap, and I use it all the time now.

It was hard to get started at first. The ?cradle hold? seemed a bit awkward. I?m sure my daughter was fine with it, but it always looked like her head was at an odd angle. I?ve since learned that all babies like to sleep... Read full review »

The Maya Wrap Sling is truly the greatest sling that I have ever used, and I have used quite a few. As the mother of five children, I need an extra arm and hip at times. This sling really fit the bill for me. I have had a toddler and been pregnant at the same time. And you know how toddlers always... Read full review »
